I found Moon Knight #1 (1979) of $7.50 at a shop here in Melbourne. Picked up some other old MK to get closer to finishing my run.

I also found an Alan Moore written, Alan Davis drawn copy of Miracle Man #3 for $7 in really good condition. I haven't even cracked open the plastic pocket it came in.
Miracleman #3 NM for $3.30 (they have most other issues too)

Comic shops here don't really have bargain bins. Heck, my LCS increases the price of everything once it's more than 3 months old...

That said I did have some good finds at 2nd hand bookstroes - Jim Lee Uncanny X-Men issues, American Flagg issues, Mignola Marvel stuff.

Lately I've just been adding more and more to my basket at mycomicshop.com...

It isn't perhaps a huge bargain in the sense that I didn't find it in a 25 cent box, but I just bought an almost complete run of ROM Spaceknight from Fearless Readers Online.  From 1-75 and the 4 annuals, I'll only have ~10 issues to track down.

I am very happy.

One of the local shops here is usually the last place in town to look for bargains, but they have a semi-annual basement sale where they open up the storeroom and let you down there to dig through thousands of unbagged back issues, mostly late-80's to late 90's superhero books, but with some current books and weird indies of all variety. When I went a few years ago, they were charging $7 a pound. This weekend they were handing out Diamond boxes and charging $35.00 for a full box. I managed to cram about 180 books into mine. 19.4¢ per book; not a bad deal. Some highlights: filled in a bunch of gaps in the later end of my New Warriors run, some Agent X, issues of the Casey/Ladronn Cable run, issue #2-33 of Joe Kelly's Deadpool run, Thunderbolts, Heroes Return one-shots, a big chunk of the current Nova run along with some from the two 90's ongoings, a handful of 80's Red Circle books, and a ton of random independents.

At Wizard World Graham Crackers had a sale on Sunday any 20 books for $20.  My bro got some 70's Amazing Spider Man's and Books of Magic prestige books, and I picked up a buttload of Alex Ross Dynamic Forces variants, and a few of the Brubaker Catwoman stuff Smiley

Last week at a crappy collector show I stumbled across 8 issues of Warrior Magazine, all for £2.

Includes the first few issues and the '82 summer special. Features strips from MarvelMan, V for Vendetta and Shandor, Demon Stalker from greats like Alan Moore, Alan Davis, Steve Dillon and Garry Leach!

As I was leaving my girlfriend's apartment this morning, I saw a mighty stack of comics in the lobby in the spot where people usually leave magazines that they don't want anymore. Score! 68 books, mostly recent Marvel titles from Dark Reign leading up to some of the Siege tie-ins and one-shots, and a couple of Simone/Lopresti Wonder Woman issues. Averages 2-4 issues per title and not always in sequence, and the copies are fairly beat up, but good for getting a taste of the story to see if the trade is worth picking up at some point. And you can't beat free! Woot!

Is Blankets softcover for 11 bucks a good deal?
Reading it and loving it this time. Tried it a couple of years ago and it didn't gel.

The Best American Comics 2007 for $9. It's not quite what the title says it is but it will definitely make me stretch in my reading.

Made out like a bandit this weekend. They held a flea market in the park near me and spent $5 bucks to get a box of old Marvel Conan including some Kull and Creatures on the Loose for good measure. Was disappointed in finding the savage sword #1's cover was detached No. Also got a Man-Thing #1 for $2 bucks and ASM # 234, 252, 289 and Secret Wars #8 for $1. Lucky day.

Today I drove up to the Half-Price Books Puget Sound Warehouse Sale! Top price for anything today is $3, and tomorrow everything is $1 or less. They had half of the sale set up under tents in the parking lot and this is were the comics & trades were at. I decided to give the floppies a pass and stick with trades & manga. They only had two rolling shelf carts for comics with spines, but they were regularly bringing out new boxes from the warehouse to replenish stock. I could have stood there all day and cherry picked each new batch, but I set myself a $10 limit and quit after I had each hand full. The line for the register was also getting out of control so I queued up to wait. The line more than doubled in length while I was waiting. I got myself a copy of Spiral Bound for $3, Villains United & Gloom Party for $2 each, !mpact Comics Who's Who #2 & The Drifting Classroom for $1 each, and  volumes 5-10 of Dragon Head bundled into three-packs for $1 a pack. I already had vol. 5, but at 33¢ each, I'm not going to argue. It's a lucky thing I'm leaving town early tomorrow or else I would have a hard time restraining myself from going back on Sunday. Hell, I'm having a hard time keeping myself from going back later today after the stock has churned through and the lines have died down. I can afford another $10, right?  Whistle

My favourite LCS has started doing a "Discount Trades" shelf, where they put stock that hasn't been moving for a while, and mark the prices down to get them out the door.  While perusing the shelf today, I picked up the following books:

Antoine Sharpe: The Atheist TPB by Phil Hester & John McCrea($4)
Cover Girl by Andrew Cosby, Kevin Church & Mateus Santolouco ($4)
Seven Sons by Alexander Grecian & Riley Rossmo ($3)
George Perez Wonder Woman Vol. 4 ($5)
Swamp Thing: Love in Vain & Healing The Breach TPBs ($5 each)
Man With the Screaming Brain ($3)
Dick Tracy Dailies Vol. 2: 1933-1935 ($10)

Bargoons aplenty!  Now NO MORE until after I get back from NYCC...
