I'm not looking forward to reading this to my daughter in a year or two while trying really hard not to lose it. Daddyhood's made me a softie. I can only imagine what this one'll do to me now.

The artwork is amazing. Is this in color? I've only seen it in black and white. I'll admit, I skimmed it more than I read it. Very fun to look at, though. Yes, it's in colour, and yes, the artwork is amazing. The story is similar to his artwork. Surreal. Overall, it was a good read. I'll be sure to check out more of his work. I need that one. Was it better than sex, Richard, or merely as good? Funny. I REALLY enjoyed it. Probably because I'm a sucka' for dark dystopian works. Wilson's dialogue, and story keeps you interested as does the subjects he explores. Art wise? No complaints, Nathan Fox' work is some of his best I've seen to date. And Jeromy Cox' colours are simply stunning. Guaranteed eye-gasm, oh yes.

Nice one! This one and Camus' The Stranger were the books that made my recent French course bearable.

Just finished the Charles Schultz biography and now I'm onto Jules Feiffer's memoir-Backing Into Forward. The Schultz bio was great, but at the end I felt a little creepy-maybe a little more background than I wanted.

The Walking Dead. Making my way through trades 11, 12, & 13. I realized this week that my wife, friends, and co-workers had all read a year and half's worth more of my TWD trades than I had. One of them was even showing wear by the time I got to it. Anyway, still damned good stuff. It's nice to be current again.

Hellboy: The Storm
Astoundingly great artwork from Duncan Fegredo again. I'm tempted to be blasphemous and say I prefer his artwork on Hellboy to Mignola's own.
The story in this one left me pretty flat, though. I wondered why they went from doing a couple of eight issue series ("Darkness Calls" and "Wild Hunt"), both awesome, to such a short installment. Turns out it's because it's more of a recap than a story, getting us ready for "The Fury". Very little atmosphere, very little happening.
The Veil
I have a habit of reading the first issue of a miniseries and using that to decide whether or not to buy the rest. If the answer is yes, I don't read more until I have the whole thing. Sometimes this works well. Sometimes it doesn't.
The first issue set a really nice, creepy ghost story vibe. I wanted three more issues of that, but instead I got an increasingly messy version of "The Crazies". It wasn't bad, but I started skimming more than reading as I was pulled further and further out of the story. Hopefully The Suicide Forest will be better.

Another strong powerful trade. Sorry to see this series go. Thanks to hxcscarecrow for this awesome trade. This was the first Darwyn Cooke that I have ever read and enjoyed every bit of it.
