This is a fantastic run, almost as good as Drake and Premiani's original.

Well this is a FYI warning.

If you plan on buying DC Universe by Alan Moore HC almost everything of the previous material from the tpb collection in 2006 yes it now has Voodoo, Deathblow, Wildcats 50 & Wildstorm Spotlight included but....

IT does NOT have THE KILLING JOKE in this new HC!!!

I enjoyed the new stories but seriously it is obvious that the solicitation omission is a error of misjudgment by many comic fans, myself included.

Makes sense since they released a hardcover version of just that story but yeah if that was in the solicits and not included that sucks.

The Killing Joke was included in the Previews solclit of the updated Alan Moore Universe HC & on DC's own website.  The actual updated HC had no killing Joke at all.  The joke was on me & those that preordered the book.

Yes, quite.

I just feel shorted a bit.  I enjoy the Killing Joke, A Death in the Family, & Batman Year One of the highest order.  I will get the The Killing Joke HC on the cheap (DCBS/IST) to correct this oversight.  You can't trust DC like you use to is what I learned from this experience.

Just finished Joe the Bar barion, the new x-men year one book and finally caught up on my weekly comics (well all bar this weeks). About half way through the wasteland omnibus and Madman atomica. Also within sniffing distance of finishing the 75 years of DC book. Alas though back to the grind tomorrow so the reading will slow to a crawl. All good books.

Grant Morrison: Combining the worlds of contemporary comics (Marc Singer)- So far, this is possibly the best long form academic study of Morrison I've read. Unlike previous books, such as Meaney's 'Sentence is up', Callahan's Grant Morrison The Early Years and Neighly and Cowe-Spigai's 'Disinformation Guide to the Invisibles, this book explores Morrison's work using the tools of contemporary literary criticism. So rather than taking his works as the centre of a hyper-textual/ meta-textual web, this if far more focussed on close-readings of the text and examining over-arching themes to his work. The manner is similar to the cahiers du cinema 'auteur' approach, which re-evaluated and changed the way mass-produced art could be viewed. Obviously, this book won't have the same effect. The target audience for this books is comic book fans with an interest in literary criticism, not a huge number I would imagine. This said, if any of what I've written piques your interest, it's well worth seeking out.

I haven't seen any of Shultz work collected as Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, I thought that was just the name of the cartoon.  The Xenozoic work is fantastic though, the story definitely holds up to the art.  Just never really hit a point of closure.

Good book. I've been picking at it for a couple of months now, reading various sections out of order.
