Listened to the World War Z audio book (right alongside The Walking Dead comic as the best zombie related thing ever) But actually READING something... Plus the weekly comics, Wonder Woman and the Nazi Fantastic Four were some of the highlights this week.

Man I love the Ultimates never read it before, kept hearing that there was some at least visual links between ultimates and the avengers film so thought i would check it out and its a book ive been meaning to read. the bit where they are talking about who would play them in a film is very funny given what has happened since

Yay! The Lost City of Z! I loved that book so much I read it twice in 6 months. I hope you enjoy it, Jeppe.
I read it after Matt HOWL recommended it so warmly on The Bookhouse Boys, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I've been slightly obsessed with the history of exploration recently, both in my research and in my general readings, and this was an excellent example of popular non-fiction on the topic done right What did you think of West Coast Blues? I was lukewarm to it.
I thought it was okay, but so far I find that I enjoy Tardi's pulp stuff (and War of the Trenches) quite a bit more than his neo noir. I will give Like A Sniper Lining Up His Shot a try as well though. On to more readings while I stay out of the sun and nurse my new ink.

How do you like Delisle's new book? I love his stuff, but haven't had a chance to pick up Jerusalem yet!

Also been reading more work by Shintaro Kago, specifically Dream Toy Factory Don't be fooled by the cover…cause this is some twisted shit.

Reading isn't quite the right word for this but I have been absorbing Little RascalsIt is a Hong Kong comic from the 70s by a very prolific creator over there: In 1950, one Wong Yuk Long was born in China. His family moved to Hong Kong when he was seven, and there he began reading comics. Before long, he was writing and drawing the damned things – his first published work appeared when he was eleven. At the ripe old age of seventeen, he began publishing comics himself. His most successful company, Jademan, launched in 1971. Asian comics art expert Dr. John A. Lent notes that Wong “almost single-handedly fashioned contemporary Hong Kong comics,” estimating that Jademan eventually gained 70-90% of the nation’s comics trade.
The thing about this book is if i were to describe what happens it would sound rather plain, it must be seen to be believed. Now obviously this isn't in English and was kinda annoying to track down online but if anyone wants to look through it, let me know. This thing is just pure violence and comics joy. Where oh where were these comics when I was a kid.

Just got through reading Batman: Holy Terror. I really loved NOOORRMMM Breyfogle's art direction on this book, there's some panels that are just fantastic…and I think that's my problem with the book. Alan Brennert's script is so text heavy (refuse to use the words "too wordy") but some times there are so many word balloons on the page that you find yourself peering around them to see what the heck is going on.
I really dug the story overall but there is just too much of it crammed into this little 45 page book that I think a few of the ideas get lost. The cover is dope though, worth the price of admission.

My monthly regina pile was getting rather large so I sat down and go through some chunks of books, read issues 6-9 of Wonder Woman and I thought they were great. I enjoyed the heavy Gods theme that Azzerello has taken this book in and the scenes with Hades were creepy and wonderful all at the same time.
Also read Batwoman 6-9 and while good, the time jumping mechanic used to tell the story was a little annoying and at one point confused me since it seemed to contradict itself but that might have been me. The bigger issue is that JH killed it on this book and while Reeder is a fine penciller in her own right, I just get a little less from her take on the JH pages then the originals. She is clearly aping his stlye to produce the same effect, I am just not sure if it is getting there with the same umphh for me if that make sense.

Jon O goes on an issue frenzy!
Captain Atom stays one of my favorite books month to month. The writing and art are both killing it every issue, and it's really sad to see it go beyond disliked and be completely ignored.
Batwoman was only ok. Trevor McCarthy is a fantastic artist, but I can't help but miss the loss of Amy Reeder. McCarthy is handling his layouts exactly like Williams had. In the Colonel scenes I feel like he apes Williams style pretty well. Everything else looks really good too, but it still felt a little cold to me. Your mileage may vary.
Conan the Barbarian is fantastic. This issue started a new arc and while the action was dialed down lower than any issue prior the tension was jacked way up. I can't wait to see what happens next issue.
Glory I enjoyed decently well. I like the art a lot, and the monster designs are amazing. I'm intrigued enough to stick around a bit longer.
Earth 2 and Action Comics were both fantastic and felt like terrific stand alone issues. I don't see that nearly enough.
Sonic the Hedgehog was probably my favorite of the DCBS box. More action happens in a third of this book than any superhero issue (well aside from the aforementioned Earth 2). Bright and bombastic. Ian Flynn writes terrific comics.

Fiiiinally finishing up Mage: The Hero Discovered. I wanted to read them, frankly, so I could get rid of them. I have the 8 volume collected editions that came out in the late 90's and it's a case where the content is great, but the aesthetic is poop.

Wonder Woman is easily one of my favorite books of not only the New 52; but also of my current comic book reading. Azzarello's reinterpretation of the gods, which is actually taking them back to their true mythological roots, is awesome. Cliff Chiang's art is gorgeous.
