That is a hefty tome! If that was the Thing on The Doorstep you'd trip and break your neck!

Just finished this. Very interested in what the guys think of it (and the rest of yall for that matter). Won't spoil anything here, but I can see why one might not like the ending...
Overall I enjoyed it.

May I also suggest the podcast, http://hppodcraft.com/. They do a 30 minute podcast on each of Lovecrafts stories as they go through his catalog. They are funny, insightful, and really well produced. I had so much fun reading and re-reading each of his stories recently just so I could go listen to the next podcast. It really adds a lot of depth to the reading.

I just got into that podcast. It's required listening for any Lovecraft fan.

Recently on both Ifanboy and Augie at CBR that they were going on and on about not understanding or getting Lovecraft and were quite dismissive. I was taken aback a bit. Anyone that makes that claim might as well just toss their Mignolaverse comics out the window.

HPpodcraft is a great, great show. I inhaled about 15 Lovecraft stories and each podcast that coordinated with them a few weeks ago. I actually read so much Lovecraft I had to take a break but plan to do every story along with those guys. Great stuff.

HA!

CBR got the axe from my podcast list a while ago so I didn't hear and HPL anti-love there; but the iFanboy dismissal was very close to the last straw for me and iFanboy ... They're on notice and in danger of becoming extinct from my ipod (I know they don't care).

It was actually an article Augie wrote, and it was more of an aside. He wasn't out right hating... but still, I notice these things.

I just finished Little Things by Jeffrey Brown.  It's a very cool autobiographical comic collection.

I've recently decided to give European comics a serious shot, always had Tin Tin, Asterix, and Lucky Luke books in the house as a kid, but they were all in french…so I never got a chance to really "read" them.

So I picked these up today.

Last night, I felt like trying something completely different and on a whim I purchased this:

THE HELM!!!

I'm only two issues in and I'm LOVING this. As a self-diagnosed comedy snob, I have a hard time laughing at comic books. I think that comedy is really really hard to sustain in comic books, but the Helm makes it seem easy. I was caught off guard by how frequently I chuckled over the span of two issues.

I nabbed this off of Comixology (It's one of Two series available from Dark Horse via Comixology...what's up with that?) and it was super cheap. In fact, if you want to sample the series you can download this first issue for FREE.

Also, Bart Sears is looking really good on the art chores. For realz.
