Howdy. As a guy who spends a lot of time behind a drawing table, I definitely appreciate listening to some guys sitting around and talking about one of my life's great passions-- comics! Thanks for helping me get through the day.

Welcome BigRed5 and a belated welcome back to VinceB and David!  Glad to have you both in the hot seat again!

Quick summary about myself...My name's Chris Chavez and I call the greater Sacramento, CA area my home.  I've been reading comics for almost 34 years straight, even through the glut of the "Image" era and the comics bust of the 90's.  Currently, my reading tastes are primarily found in the Big Two's catalogs, with a healthy dose of books from some of the smaller independent publishers, although more in trade format than anything else.

I love the chance to talk with everyone on the boards about the books they're reading and ones that I might find interesting to add to my future purchases.  I also am quite happy to provide any info I can on what I consider to be my "golden era" of comics, the mid 70's to early 80's! Smiley

...and I'm still patiently waiting for the chance to buy copies of however many TPB's it takes to make of "Marvel Team-Up Visionaries: Chris Claremont", printed in COLOR!   Grin

Hey.  Names Mario Muscar.  I've been in the podcasting communities for several years now.  I've been reading comics since the early 80s.

I read a lot of independent and self-published bokos but still have my feet in the Big 2's pools.

You could just as easily used that description for myself. I'm 39 years old, so some of my fondest memories of comics were reading whatever titles I could my grubby little paws on during the late seventies and early eighties. I would also describe myself as a survivor of the comics scene during the mid-nineties which culminated in the collapse of the speculator's market. Despite some truly horrible decisions that Marvel in particular has made regarding a few of their characters, I actually think creatively the industry is in a healthy and entertaining place. I read a fair amount from the big 2, some Image books, and anything Conan related from Dark Horse.

In the house and congrats on the new show... even back in the Bullpen Bulletins days, this was the kind of show that I always thought you guys should be doing...

Anyway, the name's Darren Goodhart, I'm 45, divorced, from the St. Louis area and I've been reading comics since I was 4 years old.

I'm a graphic designer/illustrator by trade, I've been doing this professionally since I was 23 years old, and drawing since I was 4 as well.  I work in the advertising department of a St. Louis-based manufacturing firm by day and do some freelance at night (though that's dropped off in recent months).

I've also drawn a few comic books, I've had work published by AC Comics, NOW Comics, Malibu Graphics, Alpha Productions and most recently Image Comics while Big Bang Comics was being published by them.  Haven't drawn any comics in a long time, but I'm always getting the itch to do it again...

I'm currently buying a lot of DC and Marvel books, with that being mostly dominated by DC, and dabble in the alternatives from time to time...

Cool to see other artists on here. I also broke into the comics scene as a penciler during the late '90s working for Now Comics, Malibu comics, and finally an X-Men pin-up 'till I gave up on the scene and went into animation. I will be directing on a new Hulk animation series for Starz starting in June, and I have been working on a graphic novel for about five years now (its almost done!).

By the way. How do you load up a picture icon on these things?

Hey to everyone here. I love the new look to the forum. Does this mean we are abandoning the forum on the Around Comics site?

Man, that's some very impressive credentials... what did you used to draw for Malibu and NOW?  For NOW, my lone credit as far as a full book goes was the 13th issue of Rust.  At Malibu, I did a few things, Keith Laumer's Retief, a Planet of the Apes mini-series called Blood of the Apes (with Cat & Mouse writer Roland Mann), and all sorts of covers and a few short stories here and there...

Hey to everyone here. I love the new look to the forum. Does this mean we are abandoning the forum on the Around Comics site?

Never abandon. We love Sal too much to flip him the bird and run. We also tend to generate threads very different from those one normally encounters on the main AC site. I think we'd be taking advantage of our friendship if we expected Sal to sit back and let the nutjobs take over the asylum, so we decided to dig up the old haunt. I think it's fitting, what with the old feed hosting the new show and all...

Glad you're here evaD. Now let's make fun of David!  Cheesy

Yes, because prompting is required for that.
