Time-Travel
I like the idea when it is handled in a skilled manner. Like, Booster Gold, that was a good use of time travel. Bad, would be Ultimate Fantastic Four #39-41(?), with Diablo. If the writer can handle the concept and make it interesting, I can deal and will enjoy it.

I think that x-men's largest problem is that it doesn't work very well inside the marvel universe itself. How can we believe that there is a world where people look up to a few heroes but have a unnatural hate against any mutant born that way? Read Marvels by Busiek and Ross

Aw man, nothing like Neseman to wrap the show up. I nearly spilt my acrylic palette because of that nutcase lol.
On FC- I'm gonna go on the same boat with David. There's something that just threw me off with this issue in particular and that was my biggest nitpick of the issue. I really liked the direction that was going for Nix Uotan, but yeah, it all came down to just the pacing in the art slightly confusing at times.
On X-men- If there's a reason why I wasn't interested in the X-books before Manifest Destiny, it's just storylines heading back to what's been done before and beating over previous arcs like a dead horse. That and before the current status quo, IMO, there wasn't a book where I could just jump in and read. It always felt like this air-tight history in which Mutants are still hated, Sentinels hunt them down, the Brotherhood shows up every now and then to give some trouble and...AGH, it just annoyed me.
On Fables- Wood, Vince, and Steve, I never heard you guys mention about 1,001 nights of snowfall. I was curious what you guys thought about it.
On Mike Allred- I love his work, but would you guys suggest the popgun anthologies as a cheap gateway to his work?
Epic-sized episode guys, LOOVED it. I want the other 2 hrs now...lol.

BIG THANKS to Vince, David, Chris and Jason for letting me join in their reindeer games!! On Fables- Wood, Vince, and Steve, I never heard you guys mention about 1,001 nights of snowfall. I was curious what you guys thought about it.
I enjoyed it—quite a bit, in fact. That said, it's an afterthought to me because I love the epic story that played out over the first 11 trades. On Mike Allred- I love his work, but would you guys suggest the popgun anthologies as a cheap gateway to his work?
I'd go with Madman or Red Rocket 7.

Thanks for the kind words buddy! I actually read Snowfall very early on in my Fables process, and enjoyed it but as Steve said, it's secondary to the main story. It's enjoyable in its own right, and worth the price of admission.

Thanks for the 2 cents guys! Agreed, its just what I found enjoyable about it was that I used that book as a precursor to the series rather than going with the trades, but what appealed to me the most was how it had an aroma of the morale tales that was done in aesop's fables, but I think I speak for all when I say that

Oh no you di'IN! Isn't Morrison taking over Rulk next year? Somebody would need some new shorts then, ya you bet! Well if Morrison took over Rulk, it would make have more depth than a straight up book about a monster smashing things that ultimately have no resolution, like much of a certain writer's works since he jumped to marvel lol.

Meanie, it was GREAT to hear you leave a message, but you need to lay off the random Morrison "analysis" after drinking fire water all day.

Okay...about halfway through...
Loved the Fables talk...and yes, Bigby is the heart and soul of the book to me, and Prince Charming makes a great counterpoint. I loved the mention of Cinderella...However, where's the Boy Blue love? He's my favorite character...or maybe its Fly...shit, I really like Rose Red...well, you can see that deciding amongst these characters is nigh impossible...
The only thing I can say David, is if you want to read these books, I will send you mine to try...This series is something that I can't recommend enough and one of the ways that I have gotten many people into the comics of today...

I heard that Morrison has taken to selling blank pieces of paper that may or may not have been held close to his heart...interested Vince?

Well if you do a few days worth of research and read up on your Crowley, Dee and happen to know the actual context of the first coded messages that Marconi sent then you would be able to understand Bluemeanie's message. It's what he said between the words that really have the deeper meaning and therein lies the plot of the message even though plot is merely a concoction of our own fevered electrical impulses.
Err....
Random episode notes:
1) DAMN YOU STEPHEN HAWKING!! DAMN YOU TO HELL FOR YOUR INTERRUPTION OF THIS EPISODE!!!
2) As long as you're online Wood you mentioned you ordered 5 copies of the AV/Black Coat book. I very much support the book(s) and have ordered one copy but I can't even justify to myself buying an extra. Here's my thing though- I'd pay more to help support the title but I can't bring myself to have an extra copy of a comic floating around on top of my piles of existing crap- just not enough room. So what about this as a scenario (aside from just giving copies to other people)- what if smaller press comics went to a 'Radiohead' type of model but with a minimum buy-in? So you go to Steve's website and click on the 'store'. The Black Coat/AV special is in stock for a minimum purchase of $2 but you are given the option of 'How Much Would You Like To Pay?'. I want Steve to produce more works and have enjoyed his previous ones so I choose '$5'. I get mailed my one issue to read but I supported the publisher/creator with more money at no additional cost.
A random idea I know but being the finance man I thought I'd get your opinion on it.

Oh and I hear Fables is finally slated in '09 for an oversized hardcover collection (ala Y The Last Man)! Whoo-hoo! Obviously anyone who read The Elementals in the 80s would have already realized that Willingham was a comics GOD!
