I think Umar and Deemer come from the same school of surface reading.

Deemer's a little nicer about it, but still.

Like I said, I appreciate that Umar took the time to listen. On the other hand, I would surely love it if he took the time to post a few times that didn't involve ridiculing others viewpoints. But hey, what do I know?

I'm currently editing the Hotline comments for #42 and I've gotta give it up to Richard G AKA Cousin Dick. He is one hell of a creative mofo and I for one feel blessed he decided to throw some of his talent our way.  Not Worthy

I love the Cousin!!  Somehow that accent doesn't conjure up dueling banjos or nooses in my traumatized mind, and that's no small feat!  Where does the Cousin hail from?  (The Cousin, not so much Richard G, unless they're from one and the same)

Great episode, guys! Enjoyed the DC event/Morrison talk (I believe WE3 is the only thing by him I've read) -- especially Wood bringing the list just like you'd expect him to!, David's awesome take on the Uncanny Annual, the manga talk, Jonah Hex, all of it!

Good stuff all around guys!

I had a lot of fun this episode. When we started recording this show nine months ago, I would have bet you a million dollars if you said I would be the one championing a Grant Morrison story against a deluge of negative commentary. Wow.

This episode is going to give me an ulcer, isn't it?

I got your back on this one, Wood!

The deluge doesn't occur in the episode, it occurs on some boards located in places on the internets.  And stuf.  The 11 O'Clock boys know what love is all about.  If you like Morrison and FC #7 you'll enjoy this episode.

That was some good Final Crisis talk. Haven’t read the series but it was great to keep up on it with the podcast. I might think of picking up the series in the future.

I’ve been a Thunderbolts fan from the beginning and they did destroy the status quo but the title has been good. I’d love to get some of the more classic elements back, see the Redeemer program, and check on what the other characters from the series are doing eventually. The series seemed to lose it’s way later into the run. Then there was the whole fight club nonsense. Then the title relaunched and it kept on heading for the more serious, realistic modern Marvel style. It’s gained something but also lost something along the way. The Nicieza accumulated some problems that once it went I wasn’t entirely sad to see it go. Some characters became boring like Captain Marvel. Really liked him in his series and by his last appearance in the title I couldn’t care less.

I have the first Colour Nexus trade from Dark Horse that I picked up in a bargain bin. I usually love 80’s comics but this didn’t do anything for me. Maybe it’s just not my thing.

I’m just waiting for a company to keep their comics at $2.99 but cut the number of pages so they can still proclaim the price point. I think that would be funny but maybe I have a strange sense of humour.

There was a Dan Slot written GLA mini-series and then a Christmas Special where they were the GLX.

That’s great that there was a little bit of Manga talk squeezed in there. I recently saw that there is a 13 volume Box set of Death Note at a big discount that I was wondering about buying. Always heard that it was a good mainstream series with good cliffhangers to get you to buy the next volume. Heard less nice things about Naruto and I tend to stay away from titles like that more in Manga than in regular comics from here. I’m all for more good comics what ever country they come from.

I will say that the conversation in this episode was nice...it was refreshing to hear Wood be the champion of a Morrison book rather than Vince taking the lead...however...I can't get behind most Morrison work, FC included...the simple fact is that yes, it is challenging, and as a writer, he can feel free to challenge readers as much as possible, but let's look at the works of Morrison in another vein...

How can children break into comics by reading his books? Am I saying that all comics need to be kid friendly? No...but should they at least have a surface plot that is completely coherent, explained, and understood? I would say yes...that doesn't mean that things can't pull from continuity, one of the ways I'm sure most of us got hooked on the books was by reading an issue and wondering "What the hell happened before this?"...But Morrison takes it a step further...you need to have an understanding of multiple levels of vocabulary that would baffle most high school students and even more adults...I'm not saying to dumb it down, I'm saying write a story that is more accessible...save the meta for other books...keep it out of the books considered the flagship events that are more likely to pull in new readers as they have the most marketing dollars...

As for the Manga talk...it's nice to see everyone on the panel has tried it...and it's nice to have the a topic that will trigger such a grumpy Pavlovian response from Chris  Wink...

As for Peter Gabriel...well, Vince...I am a huge fan of Gabriel...however, never created a bad song? I think he would even be willing to state that there are songs that he's less fond of and would rework if he could...if not, why would there be multiple versions of his songs as performed in concert? I just wonder if this was hyperbole rearing its head...

All in all...you guys kept me company as I waged battle against to hordes at the grocery stores this pre-Superbowl Saturday...for that, I say thanks!

I'm sure there's stuff buried in his catalog he'd love to go back an tweak, but a truly bad, gut-wrenching, Su-su-sudio-level monstrosity he'd like to erase from existence? I can't see it. To a lesser artist, Gabriel's "bad" is a career high point.

If it was about Chris ranting on the price of comics- Casey Mccauly style, it just might have been me.

It was Hey World (Remote Control Version) by Michael Franti and Spearhead from All Rebel Rockers. It's a REALLY good album.

I have to check that one out. I love their Home album.

Hey Vince,

Could you give me a suggestion of a GM book to read that's not FC, Batman or All Star Supes?

I'm trying to appreciate his writing style some more
