just saw green hornet in 3D.
a) having no attachment to the original series, i thought it was a good, fun film. definitely worth seeing. rogen and chou had good chemistry and the action was very well done. waltz was is usual scary bat-shit self. its good enough i wouldn't mind getting the DVD when it comes out.
b) no need to see it in 3D. other than the kato vision, i don't see why it had to be 3D.
c) i will forever give cameron diaz a pass for her amazing hotness in "the mask" and the first "charlie's angels" movie, but i thought she was miscast in this. sure she's got the spunky reporter down, but everything else didn't suit her. i think they should have gone with a younger, hotter girl to be the object of brit's and kato's affection. i didn't believe her as this smart-yet-hot twenty something... but that's just me.

Rockford Files Season 1 on Apple TV.
Karma. My favorite TV sleuth. The wife and I are going to finish Blood, Boobs and Beasts on Hulu. It's a doc about Don Dohler, the guy who made The Alien Factor (1976), Fiend (1980), Nightbeast (1982), The Galaxy Invader (1985) out of his backyard with love and devotion. He also created the underground comix character ProJunior back when he had a fanzine. Interesting stuff.

If you enjoyed that and looking to [listen] to more about the fall of the empire, the Dan Carlin podcast (episodes 34-36 thus far) has an ongoing series about the fall of Rome, starting with Tiberius Gracchus and moving up through Caesar and beyond (forthcoming).

I agree with Mike's assessment. Rogen and Chou are great. All the car chase scenes are awesome. It's a great origin tale. The problems in the movie are Cameron. And it seemed like they had a few plot problems in the beginning of the third act. Almost as if they didn't know how to end it. Overall a solid B

aw dude! don't judge the series by that first episode! i agree, its pretty campy, the baddies were lame, and everybody was a little too cutesy. hold on like it did, and you'll get to the meaty character stuff and the cool sci-fi concepts. loving the show will creep up on ya. (but of course, if its really not your thing, then c'est la vie) -mike

Definitely not judging the whole season on the basis of the one show - in fact I imagine it does get better. I'm just not sure its for me. Since its free on Netflix live and Apple TV, I'm sure I'll watch a bit more at some point. I really like the actor who plays the doctor - Chris Eccleston? But hearing how the doctors always change, it sounds like he won't be around for long. And the guy they have for the current season really does look like an alien..

Thanks! I will definitely check them out. God bless the library and their history-type videos. And as for the Green Hornet - I agree. B or B+. Came away very happy.

Fringe is back from hiatus (albeit on a new night) and as strong as ever--just a damn smart science fiction show.
I loved last night's Twin Peaks reference. When Walter puts on the glasses to see Jacoby's aura, he mentions that they were created by his friend, Dr. Jacoby from Washington state. "Dr. Jacoby" being Doctor Lawrence Jacoby (played by Russ Tamblyn) who wore similar glasses on Twin Peaks.
