A great film! I think Pi is still my favorite, but Aronofsky has yet to make a film I didn't thoroughly enjoy Pi is the only one I haven't seen yet. Planning on that soon. My friend Vinny still brings up to this day. It is probably his favorite film moment of all time. Bean It's not just the act itself but the way that middle aged degenerate says the words...not Vinny. The guy in the movie.

I enjoyed Pi much more after listening to the director's commentary.

hulu's showin' the spirit and since i've never seen it, i thought i'd see what's what.
now, it's been a while since i've read the spirit, but does he really have an inner monologue? and does the spirit sound like frank miller's dark knight returns?
i like how it looks like a frank miller comic come to life. unfortunately, that's also one of its biggest drawbacks. some scenes and action stuff that looks great on the page looked stupid on screen.
the whole green screen thing is distracting. everything looks fake. i'd rather they had played it straight, using practical effects and sets. dick tracy did it wonderfully. i suppose they spent all their budget on getting big name stars. i wish they just got lesser name actors and poured the money into the movie instead.
sam jackson's "the octopus" is ridiculous and silly. the hell?
i don't see a shred of will eisner in the movie. it's very much "frank miller's the spirit".

I've been watching a little bit of Wimbledon, and plan on watching True Grit sometime tonight. I've also ordered the first season of Mad Men. I can't wait to get stuck in after how well it's been received.

I fianlly got round to starting Jericho (it was a cheap two season boxset on amazon) and am loving it. Three episodes in and it's bleak. Bleak but good!

The tpb that completes the series should be out soon. 6 issues started by DDP and finished by IDW.

I fist saw Pi at a film festival when it was first released and I became obsessed with it. I went and saw it three times in the theater and just new that this film maker was going to make amazing films. Just watched season 3 of United States of Tera. Great series, sad to see it go but it ended well. Travis

There's just something about that movie that does that to people! I had a similar experience with a bootleg DVD copy of it.

So I'm watching the final episode of The Voice with my wife. One of the contestants, Vickie Martinez is singing "Drops of Jupiter" with Train's Pat Monahan. Something has just occurred to me... the Lyrics to Drops of Jupiter MAKE NO FUCKING SENSE!!!!!! Here are the first few lines... Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey the Tiki

They only care if it's in tune and that the lead singer is cute. Any attempts to make sense don't matter.

Hardcore Pawn. Its a huge pawnshop on 8 mile in Detroit. I think it may be the funniest show I have ever watched.
I have never seen people show so much disrespect in a business ever.
It is absolutely hilarious.

synchronicity is an amazing thing. I just borrowed this from my neighbors kid yesterday. watched about half of The Omega Man and half of Gangs of New York.

Tron (1982) in 70mm was showing at the AFI Silver Theater over the 4th of July weekend. I went to see it on Saturday night. It was awesome. I had not seen it on the big screen since it was first released. I still like the original better than the follow-up. Even though the special effects weren't as pretty in the first film for the most part they felt more integral to the story.

I just watched Insidious
5/5.
First half is shit your pants scary. The second half, while losing the scare factor due to the reveal of whats going on, stays cool with what is going on.
Highly recommend.

In the last two weeks I've watched the first three seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and then I just started watching season one of Community. I watched the first few episodes when they aired and didn't really care for it but I'm liking it a lot better this go around.
