I had heard about this when Todd was on the Major Nelson podcast, wasn't sure how many people had heard about it but I thought it was an amusing story for those of you that like Skyrim.

Skyrim Bug Turned Chickens Into Informants

Be careful whose eggs you steal; chickens can also be stool pigeons in Skyrim.

If you read the story about Bethesda not fixing amusing bugs and wondered what sort of bugs it was talking about, then try this one for size: a recent bug in Skyrim caused the game's chickens to report crimes to the town guards.

Bethesda's Todd Howard said that the design team started getting caught for crimes more often than they should have, and that it wasn't immediately obvious what was going on. "'Why are we getting caught?' 'Oh, the chickens are reporting the crimes!' he joked. "That actually took us a while to track down, that bug. Like, 'Why is this happening?'"

Sadly, despite being incredibly entertaining, the bug, which Howard attributed to the game's Radiant Story system, was fixed. However, several amused fans have vowed to mod it back in, so if you want chickens to rat you out, it might be worth picking up the PC version of the game. Perhaps Bethesda itself could add it in as part of a DLC quest: a crazed wizard who has enchanted all the animals in a local village perhaps, or a strange daedric curse that has turned a family into poultry.

Skyrim comes out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 11th.

Lol.  Those are the types of bugs in Bethesda games that are fun and endearing.

I would certainly be prone to spending quite some time in such a thread.

As the year ends, and we’ve done our duty of trying to summarize and encapsulate the year that was – we are left with a single question for the gaming industry:  What have you done for me lately??

So that means it’s time to look forward to 2012 and see what giving you the largest “gaming boner” (a phrase, as I’ve mentioned before, that is equally graphic and accurate)?

No contest: Diablo 3, FTW.

Same here.  I've waited a decade or more for this game, and I'm sure it's going to deliver on every level.  I've probably logged more hours on D2 and it's various mod's than all other games that I've played combined.

For real.  I've built so many characters in D2.  One of my favorite games of all time.  Between Diablo 3 and Heart of the Swarm, it's going to be a banner year.

#1 with a bullet (or a plasmid):

BioShock Infinite

Also very high on the list:

Grand Theft Auto V

Hopeful, roughly in this order from most to least:

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
The Witcher 2 (not on your list, the X360 version is coming in 2012)
Borderlands 2
Risen 2: Dark Waters
Assassin's Creed III
Final Fantasy XIII-2

Also, as yet unannounced: the inevitable Skyrim DLC

curious if it'll be good/worth getting:

Aliens: Colonial Marines   (Win, NDS, Wii U, PS3, X360)
Armored Core V   (PS3, X360)
Brothers in Arms: Furious 4   (PS3, X360, Win)
Hitman: Absolution   (Win, PS3, X360)

has potential/great demo or video:

BioShock Infinite   (Win, PS3, X360)- played 40% of the first. not my cup of tea, though i know its GREAT. i hope this will be more to my liking.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier   (PS3, X360)- love this series, but i'm undecided if its gonna be good.
Inversion   (PS3, X360, Wii)- interesting gameplay video. has potential to be fun.
Max Payne 3   (PS3, Win, X360)- ROCKSTAR's doing it, so i just MIGHT be worth getting.
Prey 2   (PS3, X360, Win)- played part 1 and thought it was pretty good (for that time)! the new game looks way more interesting.
The Darkness II   (PS3, X360, Win)- played part 1, and thought it was pretty damn solid. i didn't blow my sock off, but i thought it was $30 well spent.
Tomb Raider   (Win, PS3, X360)- looks beautiful. the original game passed me by, and i didn't bother playing the sequels. judging from the gameplay video, this might just pull me in.

DEFINITE BUY:

Assassin's Creed III   (Win, Wii U, PS3, X360)- love this series.
Grand Theft Auto V   (PS3, X360, Win)- hope its as good as 4.
Halo 4   (X360)- i hope they recapture the magic of the first. overhaul the game; make me FEEL i'm in a damn war! make the enemies and allies smarter!
Mass Effect 3   (PS3, X360, Win)- BONER ALERT!

Actually a very light year for me, the ones below are the only ones I am really interested in no particular order.

Borderlands 2   (Win, PS3, X360   )
Diablo III   (Win, Mac)
Far Cry 3   (PS3, X360, Win)
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier   (PS3, X360)
Halo 4   (X360)
Mass Effect 3   (PS3, X360, Win)
Metro: Last Light   (Win, PS3, Wii U, X360)
StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm   (Win, Mac)

Most of these will probably just get slapped on the good old Amazon Wishlist to be completed at some point in the future. Mass Effect 3 and Heart of the Swarm will probably be day 1 though.

I really plan on spending a good chunk of next year playing through my backlog of games and enjoying the DLC I have downloaded already.  I want to spend the adequate time in the open world games I have like Batman: AC and Skyrim.  That being said I am looking forward to Mass Effect 3, Bioshock Infinite and Halo 4.

And I just finished the Gears of War 3 campaign.    Rock Horns

On to Skyrim!
