My Earliest memories are playing some Atari Knockoff. It had a Space Game and Pole Position.
My more coherent memories are my uncle giving us a Sega Master System and playing Alex Kidd in Miracle World for hours on end. It was built into the console, we also had Donald Ducks Lucky dime Caper which i played the heck out of. I then got a Commodore 64 and copied all my friends games. One that sticks out is How to be a Complete Bastard. You basically went around drinking and treating people like shit.

If I made that game, I would have called it Tuesday.

I loved the early puzzle PC games cut with movie clips. The Tex Murphy series; Pandora code and Pandora directive. I would play those again.

Currently playing: Super Meat Boy
Earliest gaming memories: Super Mario Bros, Excite Bike, and Ninja Turtles on NES, The Simpsons game in the arcades, and Super Mario Land on GameBoy. Also, a non-functional Atari 2600.

What a homoerotic cover huh? But this game…this god damn game. Basically SNK had their own version of the konami code, but unfortunately every time you initiated it, your character popped up on the screen in the most terrible places, sometimes morphed into a wall, sometimes welded to a rock…and at that point there was nothing you could do…just start the whole god damn game over again. My brother and I played this game over, and over, and over again until one day we decided the only way to beat it was to smash it with a hammer in the backyard. R.I.P. Ikari Warriors, may you rot in hell.

I'm currently playing Skyrim and FF Tactics 2 for the DS.
My earliest gaming memory is actually buying the Sega Genesis and playing Sonic the Hedgehog for hours. My other earliest memory is watching my friend play FF 6 for hours and hours and hours. I never ended up playing that much of the Genesis; I was slightly to young for it's heyday. My true formative years would be in the 64 and PS2.

Dude... It's Blizzard. If Diablo 3 comes out in 2012, it will be the quickest-ass launch that company has ever completed. I mean, I remember the delay-hell that was Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3. Not to mention Warcraft Adventures RIP.

I'm an adult with no kids and I've been hooked on that game for the last few weeks. I've been calling stores trying to see if they have figures in stock pretty much nonstop why I'm out driving for work. I'm up to 16 Skylanders right now.
I don't know who I'm angrier at: Activision, for throttling supply on the figures. Or, the comics/hobby store cunts who have mornings off to hit the toys r us, or they "know a guy". My kid wants Bash so freaking bad right now. He's saved up enough allowance to get him, but the stores are barren. I talked to a lady at the Toys R Us (who was not up for joking around, might I add) who said they get a new shippment on Friday & it's gone in an hour. I looked on Amazon & hobby/comics shops have them up the whazzoo for a starting price of 24 GODDAMN DOLLARS. So, it's looking like I'm going to take a little time off on Friday & go camp out. Dad-Power, yo. Also, big ups to Papercut for the gaming memories slant. Seriously, duder, this thread and your maintenance of it has been nothing short of magic. Got a bunch of stuff to go through, but I'd like to take my time with it when I'm at home.

Blizzard can delay this came as much as they want, as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather wait for a flawless product.

Exactly. I'm an old man now & have a healthy back catalogue of games to get to. I have no problem with them taking their time, while I slow-poke it through Saints Row and Skyrim.

Also ALSO: Not sure if there's been discussion on here yet, but am I the only one who thinks the latest 360 Dashboard update is pretty craptacular? 90% ad-space and they have absolutely ruined the nigh-perfect Netflix Live "app". Someone help me justify my hatred, huh?

The latest 360 Dashboard is a huge steaming pile of shit. So is the new Netflix app. At this point, the update is actually directly causing me to use my 360 less. Everyone loves to hate on the PS3, but I think the interface is far, FAR superior.

My 360 is mostly for gaming with my friends. So, I don't get too bent about it. I just miss all of the tiny touches. Fuck WoW ads. I want to know what new demos ar up. I want trailers for games. Hell, I want gamer spotlight! You have to try hard to find those things now. Ads for the new Nissan? Try you shall not. Netflix on LIVE is still a great thing & I use it regularly, but it was SO GREAT before. I can't stand not being able to see what episode I'm on, outside of watching the show. I feel like they do a shit-job updating their selection on there. PSYCH IS NOT NEW. I LOVE THE SHOW, BUT IT'S BEEN ON THERE FOR A YEAR NOW! Also, it pisses me off to no end that it doesn't seem to show you the year of what you're looking at. I'm kind of stuck in a 70's and earlier phase & I get pissed when something that looks old, turns out to be retro-trash from like, 2k8.

Okay, I know I'm on fire this morning, but I'm caffinated and work-unmotivated. With that in mind, I'd like to propose a 2012 resolution...
We've spoken of it, in whispers, before... Anyone up for a regular-ish gaming night for the Monkey Room crew? This thread is so off-the-hook lately, I kind of want to get together for some more in-depth discussion with you fellows. I mean, we've all been posting here for a few years. Let's put a ring on it?
I was wondering if we could shoot for something, at least, once monthly? I dunno how everyone feels about particular games, but I'd like to start with something casual, like Catan, Carccassone, or maybe Ticket to Ride? Frankly, I'm looking more for something to have deeper discussions like what we have here regularly, for right now.
Was wondering if, since he's so good at it already, Papercut could maybe set a discussion topic & we could all agree on a time/game to meet in? S'mon, yo? For me?

Yeah, this is unforgivable. I pay $60 a year for XBox Live, at the LEAST I should be able to turn off freaking ads.

Yeah, it's pretty terrible, especially the Netflix app. The fast forward idea of having a "window in window" would be fine except that it lags so badly you can't tell where it is in the show. The fact that you can't select an episode without it beginning to load is the worst part. Moving down your queue takes forever since it's now loading two pictures per movie/show. All in all, not an improvement, to say the least. Hulu is even worse, though. Incredibly bad navigation.

amen brother! terrible update. navigating netflix before wasn't perfect, but it was pretty good. now everything's so frikkin' slow. its a pain trying to move from the start of my queue to the end. i'm sure there are a bunch more here and there. not so troubling individually, but a nuisance when taken together. ==== finished assassin's creed: revelations. overall, its good; a solid B+. not as engaging as brotherhood, IMO. i liked ezio's love interest and i would have preferred to see more of that story develop. revelations answers a lot of questions, but leaves some big ones unanswered. kind of anti-climactic really, with the ending leading into another game. fighting and other game mechanics remain unchanged from brotherhood. the additions, though don't fair as well. the tower defense and the portal-esque levels are pretty boring. it was nice to revisit altair, and he's appropriately bad ass. his story's pretty bitter sweet. i dunno, it just didn't grab me as strong as the previous games. however, its still good and solid and worth playing if you're invested with the characters and story. -mike

Speaking of early gaming memories, Abobo's big adventure is out and free to play. Anyone that has even a passing knowledge of the glory days of the NES will enjoy the hell out of this. http://abobosbigadventure.com/about.phpThese guys put a ton of work into it and it shows, if you enjoy it please consider donating. And I say that having 0 percent to do with this game, it's just THAT much fun.
