RE: the angle...that wouldn't make much sense unless X-Force is in a different continuity; which I don't believe it is since both books are right out of what happened during the Messiah Complex. |

We're living in an age where things are tweaked, where even though things stay the same - for the most part - there are some slight modifications. Kyle Raynor becomes Green Lantern; Dick Grayson goes from being Robin to Nightwing and we have two other Robins since (three, counting the dead chick, right?); Spider-Man's no longer married, even though anyone that's read the character over the past two decades knows him in that way; thanks to Byrne, Clark Kent's parents didn't die when he was younger, AND he was a jock; Bruce Banner's daddy beat him, suppressing multiple personalities; Bucky didn't die, and becomes Captain America...
So why can't there be change in Batman's mythos?
Would anyone outside of our little circle of comic book fans know about - or care about - any of it? They're not going to use any of the elder Waynes' backstory in the films and it sure as hell isn't going to be in any cartoon. His parents (and even if Alfred is Bruce's father, Thomas and Martha were his parents) were killed in front of him. He became this creature of the night to avenge them and everyone that is done wrong.
This'll be a fun ride. And with the idea that any of it could 'stick' makes it that much more enjoyable. I don't want to read something knowing the reset button will be pressed afterward. Let me believe that we're seeing some changes to the characters.
My thoughts exactly. Fuck that shit up! It's interesting. Variations on a theme. Some one once said that in writing superheros comics one must provide the illusion of change. I agree. Like Chris said on the show, set um' up, knock em' down and build em' up again. Flux, baby! |

I agree with making Batman RIP cannon! Why not make the mythological Waynes dirty!? I mean DC will probably force a resolution that the Mad Hatter was creating false memories, or that Bruce was just having a really long nightmare induced by the Scarecrow, or Joker just got a really great prank, but why not just add to Bruce's parental issues?

I have been wonder a lot about that too. Marvel has been really hush about where X-men events are in contrast to everything in Marvel 616. Makes me think that Bendis' big reveal will directly impact the mutants more than any other group. Also I think all the clues about Wolverine being one are red herrings. |

I was one of those people that when Lieing in the Gutters reported (for lack of a better word) that Batman was to meet his death or ascension thought it would be damn interesting  |

I think Alfred is the big bad guy in Batman RIP. In earlier continuity he went crazy and became the Black mask or something like that and he even died at the end of the story. I couild see Alfred finally cracking under the pressure of years of worrying about bruce and tim and barbara. Plus the loss of spoiler and if batmans quest drove Alfred his farther,best friend,and closest confidant to loss his mind I could see that guilt drive Bruce to quit being Batman for awhile.

I think Chuck wanted to have Batman play mentor to the team and give them intel but not have him in the thick of things. |

Just got a chance to listen to this. Thanks for the Skyscrapers referral. I've been thinking about it non-stop since I heard that talk-up yesterday. I'm sending the wife down to the comic shop to buy this for me today. Can't wait to read it!

For those that like Josh Cotter's Skyscrapers of the Midwest, he has a sketchbook mini called March Hare at chicagocomics.com for 2 bucks. I have ordered it but it has not come in yet. The shipping is pricey on this, but could be very fun. His artwork is amazing.
