One thing I learned today is that it is impossible to do house chores while listening to dub.
I'll get stoned and want to clean up the house. I'll sit down at the stereo to set the soundtrack and next thing I know it's an hour later, albums are all over the floor, and I've got nothing accomplished other than making a bigger mess.

I am officially old... Chris "The Ar Zee Aye" old.
I see EL-P and thought you were discussing prog rock dinosaurs Emerson Lake and Palmer (a.k.a. ELP). Oh boy.
Bean
Me too, man. And I'm on an ELP jag this week coincidentally.

Funny. Getting excited about a new EL-P album makes me feel old because these days "underground" hip hop is all over the place thanks to youtube and the fact that you don't need record labels to be heard anymore. Back when Company Flow was around in the late 90s, they were some of the first proprieties of what is considered underground, then El took it to the next level with his solo stuff. Pretty sure most Odd Future and Death Grips (ugh) fans weren't even in highschool yet when Fanstastic Damage dropped and have no idea what he did for the genre. And that's my old man rant. As far as Emerson Lake and Palmer I goes, I never really dived into their catalog. My prog tendencies went hard in the King Crimson direction (STARLESS AND BIBLE BLACK being in my top 50 albums of all time). What's the essential album of theirs I should check out?

Some feel Tarkus or Brain Salad Surgery are the best, but I grew up on Trilogy and Pictures At An Exhibition. Spotify or youtube are good ways to discover. If you can, watch the documentary: "Welcome Back My Friends" Pretty good history there.

I've listened to nothing but El-P C4C and Killer Mike- R.A.P Music on repeat. Best hip-hop I've heard in years. It's like these albums were created just for me.

I will check them out. Been a blind spot for too long. Like many others the Brain Salad album cover caught my eye many a time working at the record store back the day. The nexus between Prog, Alien, and Danzig is HR Giger.

Imagine, if you will, an 8 year old Gordo dancing around his living room in1973

What can I say? I've been listening to the 11 O'Clock comic archives sprinkled with some techno music and the Beatles. I'm simple like that.
