Awwww yeah! I hope it is AWESOME. No stores in my city have it so I've had to go the Amazon route. Hope I get my CD/DVD combo soon!
I downloaded it... I'm laughin'! It's really interesting in context with the first couple albums, too... I never realized just how much he talks about his personal life, it's fun to track the way he's changed personally just through his act.

I'm just getting around to it for the first time myself this morning... It's solid... they've really pulled back from all the experimental noodling and just made a solid pop record. It's probably closest to Summerteeth in feel.

They cut back on the noodling with the last album, Sky Blue Sky. But I agree, this is their best album in a while. Very close to Summerteeth. Nice! I love this band. On a related note:I still haven't bought this yet! What the hell?!?!?
Loser. They had it streaming on their web site for a while before it was released. I posted the link.

The preview sounded a little more focused than the last few. A Ghost is Born was the nadir for me. It had some good songs and great moments, but I felt like unless Tweedy was going to include some of whatever dope he was taking in the packaging, he should scale back on the pharmaceuticals in the studio. I'd be happy with the focus and deliberateness of Summerteeth meeting the organic and fun Americana of Being There.

Pretty sure at that point it was just Vicodin. Ghost grew on me after a while. I loved the instrumental part at the end of "At least that's what you said" and "Handshake Drugs" was pretty good as well. But overall I agree. Not great as a whole.

In more proof that I am an old man, I watch the CBS Sunday Morning show every week while making pancakes with my daughter (10 year old me would be so pissed, he hated that show). Last week they did a piece on Wilco. Nothing fancy. Very brief bio, no mention of Uncle Tupelo, YHF, or even Tweedy's painkiller addiction. Mostly it talked about how they may be growing in popularity, but are stil relatively unknown. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=5269248n&tag=contentMain;contentBodyI like the part at the beginning, showing Tweedy jamming with his son: Jeff on guitar and his son on drums.

That show instantly became appealing once I hit 30. Tweedy is, artistically and career-wise, right where I dreamed of being when I was younger. He leads a band that is cool and popular enough to make him financially comfortable and relatively unknown so he can walk the streets virtually unrecognized.
