El-P- Cancer 4 Cure
I've fallen woefully behind on the Def Jux catalogue. The overall sound felt a little played out, or maybe I got tired (who knows). But I listened to a few tracks last night and I thought it sounded pretty fucking hot.
http://www.youtube.com/v/Q5592C_jClA&rel=1El-Producto is a bitchin' producer.

You can get a digital copy right now if you pre-order the vinyl. I didn't but you can. I'll be picking up the digital copy from the definitivejux website (320KBS MP3 and comes with an instrumental version of the album, which my drum and bass loving but not particularly rap enjoying wife may like). Its amazing by the way and no, waiting has never been one of my strengths . Rolling Stone is also streaming it at http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/album-premiere-el-p-cancer-for-cure-20120518El-P was also on Letterman a couple of nights ago- awesome stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/v/16RUi9Dad8Y&rel=1Shortly I will be listening to: Killer Mike- R.A.P Music Spiritualized- Live in Wahington DC, May 10th (Thank you NPR All Songs Considered Podcast you are awesome!)

I was just bustin balls because I knew EL-P got all exasperated on twitter when it first leaked. I'm just waiting till the realeased date for old times sake, it's nice to actually anticipate something in this modern age. Been listening to the Killer Mike all week, it's flawless. If you haven't, check out his two Pledge Alliegence To The Grind albums.

To be honest S Earl, the only reason I knew it had leaked was El-P's twitter feed. I'm optimistically hoping it broadens his fanbase; Def Jux were known for critical rather than commercial success. You're right about the Killer Mike album, it's fantastic. It reminds me a lot of Ice Cube in his prime (Amerikkka's Most Wanted/ Death Certificate/ Predator) but with the sci-fi flourishes of El-P's production. It's interesting that since Nas declared that hip hop was dead, it's gone from strength to strength.
