FYI, these mysteries completely short circuit my brain. I'm having a hard time not doing complex Internet searches to answer this question. Must work....must work.... I have no idea what this feels like.

We'll call it It's Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick Film. I'll be Buster Keaton. You be Phil Silvers. On your marks...

But that has an English-speaking cast and was from the '70s. Didn't Derek say a female character sang a FYC song and the movie was poorly dubbed?

Well, it's English-speaking, but Canadian... it wasn't uncommon at the time for low budget horror movies, especially foreign ones, to be re-released later in the US, often under a different name (hence the aka). I thought the overdubbing issue might also be another factor common in low budget horror of poor sound overdubbing, especially if there was a lot of exterior shooting. You film the scene, you get horrible sound, you go back in and record a new soundtrack in a studio. I've seen this done so poorly it LOOKED like the movie was being dubbed from another language. As for the FYC song... I dunno enough about them to make the call. All I know is, he's describing the plot of Death Weekend... maybe there was another movie with a similar plot that came out later though, it's not all the most original concept in the world.

during eighth grade my 'friends' made me walk out of the Star Wars re-release bc they thought it was boring but more recently i couldnt make it through Wanted in one sitting. loved the graphic novel, with the exception of the guy looking like Emininem, but the movie was such a departure and, in my opinion, ridiculous that i had to stop and take a day or two to finish it.

Sorry no. I would have remembered Brenda Vacarro or Don Stroud being in the movie. In the movie I saw, it was a bunch of people I had never seen before.

I've never walked out of a theater but I did return a rental of elf about 15 minutes into watching it. Fortunately the local rental place let me substitute a different movie without any extra charge.

Found it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098346/When we saw it, the movie was titled "Don't Turn Out The Light" Pure and utter crap. It is apparently only 80 minutes long and we never even made it that far.

On a side note, I learned today that there's some really f'ed up German horror films from this era.

I've turned off movies at home before, but I've never walked out on one at a theatre. I think I just want to get it completely out of the way and never, ever think about it again. If I left before it was over I'd probably torment myself with the (no doubt misguided) idea it might have magically redeemed itself at the end.
The closest I've gotten, I think, was actually Superman Returns. I felt completely and utterly insulted by this movie, and I was also simply bored. I got up to go to the bathroom (normally I would never do that because I hate to miss even a couple of minutes) and felt like I should just keep going. I think the only thing that stopped me was because I was there with my dad and he might have been a bit....miffed.
Incidentally, my parents walked out on Sgt. Bilko. Again, Steve Martin's name pops up in a less than flattering light. And he used to be so funny....sigh.

Catch Me If You Can : My wife and I looked at each other about half way through this snooze-fest and said 'screw this!' almost in unison. Terrible acting, terrible presentation of what should have been a 5 minute story on CNN, and a blemish on my love for Spielberg movies. Its the only time I or my wife have ever walked out of a theater.

I made it through Manos, too WITHOUT JOEL AND THE BOTS. I've seen the MST3K version many times, but the original...yikes.
