My favorite beer right now is Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout.  When I am out I usually go with the old standby of Yuengling.  Every bar in State College has it on tap.

Really good beer I haven't had in ages:

Yeah, me too. I was at a party last weekend talking with 2 guys who went to school in Philadelphia and they went on and on about it with little prompting. The most frustrating thing was they couldn't think of any NW analog for it, because it's cheap, not bad, and they make so many different kinds.

Did they call it vitamin Y?  My brother goes to the Naval Academy and they drink it all the time.  So much so, that they have taken to calling it vitamin Y, which cracks me up.

Chimay (Red Label)

Big, Bold and smoothe, like a good California Cabernet.  Wink

Blue Moon for lighter fare.

It comes down to where I am in the country.  East coast it is Yuengling.  Down South it is Shiner Boch or Lonestar.  Here in Midwest it is Spotted Cow, Leinenfugel's, or anything by Ale Asylum.  And if I can't find any of those Guinness is the way to go.

How close are you to the PA border Stupendous Man?  A couple hour drive over to PA will net you the Y from just about any distributor.

WOW... All this beer talk and no mention of CANADIAN BEER?

SLEEMAN

ALEXANDER KEITHS

MOOSEHEAD Thumbs Up

I tend to shy away from the major Canadian brands (Labatt Blue, Molson Canadian).

In these economic times you can't go wrong with a classic:

My MOM makes fun of me for buying this stuff.... she says it's the beer her GRANDMA used to drink...  Roll On Floor Laughing

I'm in Cincinnati, so that'd be a bit of a trek

Good call on the Canadian beer.  I love Lucky and Alexander Keith's is very good.  Mooshead was the first beer I ever bought legally.

Around here it's usually Moosehead.

Anywhere else, and it's anything I haven't tried yet.  I did enjoy the Magic Hat Ale I picked up when I went down to Supershow, as well as the Yeungling I had at 3rd and Spruce.  The Magic Hat went especially well with the Anti-Gravity Ale I bought for the trip down!

Oh god... Moosehead is VILE.

Keith's is alright for a cheap beer though, but Sleeman Honey Brown or Original Draught are my go-to "cheap" beers

God yes.  The only time I can drink Moosehead is when I'm already drunk and we're out of good beer.
