Hey, look, it's the actual trailer! And it's edited completely differently from the ET snippet! Go fig! http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=29449(I think it looks like a lot of fun! Not loving Blake Lively, though. Maybe they just chose a bad clip?)

My opinion still hasn't changed. Actually it kinda lowered it even more. Some of those lines are stomach churning.

Now you're just being contrary. Well on the positive side, The Green Hornet trailer kinda looks neat. That counts, doesn't it?

Now you're just being contrary. In all honesty though, do you think the costume looks any better than what was shows on that EW cover? Or the special effects look any better than what you could make out in the ET clip?

Green Hornet does look fun! I just hope they don't drown it in self-effacing insincerity. No reason a movie like that can't be fun, funny, and sincere at the same time.

No, actually the EW cover did seem to get the costume right, but then I didn't hate the cover. Part my earlier arguments was that these things rarely look as good in stills as they do in motion. Case-in-point, the trailer: I think the FX in the trailer looked great. That one transformation shot towards the end still looks a little unrefined, but I've seen plenty of FX movie fix that sort of stuff for the actual release. That the costume looks unabashedly glowy and "Special FX"y is actually kind of a cool, bold idea to me. His name is Green *Lantern*. His costume and abilities are created with light. It makes perfect sense the costume would look sort of halfway between physical and virtual. I think it's a great idea, and I really like the texture of the design. The ideas make sense and they made it look cool, so I'm behind it. Now if only they had a way of cleaning up Lively's line delivery in post...

The tone comes across to me like a run of the mill bromantic comedy, the lines are cringeworthy, and the villains .... how many villains are they planning to cram into a single movie? I hope I am completely wrong on this one.

See, I actually think the costumes look worse in that trailer than they did in the still photo and it had a lot to do with the motion. I think Shrek had more realistic, believable special effects than this does. And I think the lines they really have to worry about are Ryan Reynolds' ....but I'm a hater.

Where can I buy my tickets? That trailer sold me. Yea well if you can't make any value judgements from what we've seen, than I don't know what to tell you. That's fine I guess. Me, I've seen enough confirmation to know that I'll hate it. To me, it looks worse than Jonah Hex did.
That's such bullshit. Warner Brothers actually cares about this movie. Well hate is probably too strong a word, i just wanted it to be subjective. I know it will stink is what I wanted to say, but people tend to like a lot of things that I think are terrible. I think though that if you removed all Green Lantern elements from this movie and called it Space Cop, no one world think twice about calling it bad, and I find that a little frustrating.
Take Green Lantern out and call it Space Cop. I'll still think it's awesome. The whole idea of a guy with a magic ring that kicks ass in space is awesome (just like WW2 Super Soldier punching Nazi's is a cool idea). It looks like it has a chance to be cheesy fun in the way that, say, Flash Gordon was cheesy fun. Speaking of subjective, it doesn't get much more subjective than "good", but I think it could be "good" in that way. Space Cop doesn't star Tim Allen, does it? Cause I'm picturing it starring Tim Allen.
Flash Gordon is one of the best science fiction movies ever made. Queen made the soundtrack. Not one song that plays at the end credits the entire fucking soundtrack. That and Brian Blessed as Prince Vultan. My opinion still hasn't changed. Actually it kinda lowered it even more. Some of those lines are stomach churning. You've read super hero comics before right? The entire genre is based on cringe worthy lines. I think that's what Stan Lee went to college for.

One, I think the plan is for Sinestro to go rogue in the sequel (drink a lot though so I might have made that up). See, I actually think the costumes look worse in that trailer than they did in the still photo and it had a lot to do with the motion. I think Shrek had more realistic, believable special effects than this does. And I think the lines they really have to worry about are Ryan Reynolds' ....but I'm a hater. I don't think the effects are finished yet. Ryan Reynolds is charming and a Canadian treasure the likes of which we haven't seen since Michael J. Fox. I don't care what you say Hacter McHaterpants.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the cringeworthy lines there (aside from the dead horse of Blake Lively's delivery, which I'll just kick one more time and be done with it). I mean, unless you're completely unwilling to give yourself over to what you're watching, and are going to rate the quality of every joke or one-liner rather than just going with the spirit of the thing (which, now that I think of it, seems to be the way people watch movies these days). Ryan Reynolds is charming and a Canadian treasure the likes of which we haven't seen since Michael J. Fox.

You have a good point. In that sense, the movie is staying true to Geoff Johns' Green Lantern writing.

I laughed at the "water in the tap" line....it's just the other 90% that I had a problem with. The ones where Ryan Reynolds whispers. It is possible to make fun movies without terrible dialog you know? See Iron Man for an example.
