that's weird! they had a bunch of technical issues with ours too.. first they stopped the previews twice. then during the beginning of the movie the screen went black for a moment, then was flickering when it came back, and after a few minutes of that it went black again for a moment and then came back fine. after that it was fairly smooth sailing though.
They must have been editing the film right up to the screenings.

From Deadline.com... FRIDAY 7 AM: Warner Bros is very pleased with DC Entertainment's Green Lantern 3D opening of $3.35M midnight showings from 1,810 venues, which bettered Marvel/Paramount's Thor midnights ($3.2M from 1,800 locations) and were on a par with Marvel/Fox's X-Men: First Class prequel midnights ($3.3M from 1,783 theaters). "It's an excellent result setting up for a strong Father's Day weekend at the box office," a Warner Bros exec emailed me this morning. Today, Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds opens in a wife but by no means record-setting release into 3,816 theaters, of which 2,711 will be 3D. There'll be a total of over 7,100 prints working. Hollywood is estimating North American box office for Green Lantern's weekend opening in the mid-$50M range with the upside as much as $65M-$70M. Sunday's Father's Day should be a strong day for the comic book movie judging from historic numbers with strong results from past superhero films. Excellent news!!! the Tiki

Well I'm gonna still see it despite the anti hype , probably grab a matinee. 3 years ago I wouldn't have even dreamed of getting a GL movie.
And Hell, I loved Thor and Ebert said he liked GL better (even though his Thor review was beyond whack).

I enjoyed it a lot. I went to the midnight showing with 3 friends last night and I'm going on a double date tonight with my wife to see it again. Anytime your wife wants to go see a comic movie, you don't second guess the action.
I can see where people might be upset at the movie, but I really enjoyed it. I'm 30, and my background with Green Lantern is the Super Friends and I started reading Green Lantern monthly at Rebirth.
Mark Strong as Sinestro was amazing. He just knocked it out of the park. I felt almost an older brother relationship to Hal. Not once did I feel that Sinestro was evil, more so that he was strong willed and would do what needed to be done, his way.
I thought Ryan Reynolds did a good job as Hal. He might not have been as serious as Hal is in the books, but for a movie it was good light hearted fun. Granted, I don't know much about Carol, but Blake Lively was hot. She was strong willed, but still had that doe eyed damsel in distress at times.
I went into this movie with no expectations and came out pleasantly surprised. It didn't have that grand/epic feel that a Marvel movie has, but it was still very good in my eyes.

i can say it's generally entertaining, though has some major flaws. mark strong as sinestro and peter sarsgaard as hector hammond were both outstanding. the constructs were well done and cool looking, and it was cool to see some familiar lanterns kicking around in oa.

It's my day off. My Daughter is in school. My wife is at work. My lengthy "honey do list" is complete (and in record time). With all that said, guess where I am right now? (Hint: I have popcorn, soda and a pair of 3D glasses) the Tiki

I guess we'll know Tim's feelings on the flick if his signature banner is still displayed in a few hours.

I really liked the movie. It was the first Ryan Reynolds movie I have been able to stand. It wasn't to many goofy moments from him and I though he actually looked like Hal from the comics. For the time in was in the theater I was able to some how forget ever seeing the movie Van Wilder.
I didn't like the way Tomar Re looked. The side shots of him with Hal looked kind of weak. My screening seemed to have trouble staying in focus. I didn't see the 3D movie. I am done with those.
Good Movie with a few flaws. I can't wait to see it once I can watch it at home.

I liked it. It was fun. It sets up some REALLY cool things for a sequel, things WE know as comic fans but the masses do not ( stay til the end of the credits for a cool sequel teaser ). I really don't get why it got a 20 something Rotten Tomatoes review. So far, I liked Thor and I liked Green Lantern. I have yet to see X-men and I look forward to Captain America. It's a great comic book summer in my opinion. the Tiki

like i said before i did enjoy it on the whole. but i think it lacked a sense of enthusiasm. to me everyone just kind of seemed to be dragging their feet through the scenes, and there just wasn't much momentum or dynamism in the pacing.

i completely concur. But I do not blame the actors but rather the director for his choice of scene editing. He edited it fine as far as overall length, I just think his scene transitions were odd. I think the actors were great. I think the story was fine (considering the fact that they had to define TWO universes and a cast of thousands to new audiences, was great.) I think the special effects were very good (with the exception of the opening scene which felt a bit too CGI heavy... but they backed off later). I honestly think the movie's director was good but maybe not "just right" for the movie. It is not the best superhero movie ever made... but it sure as hell ain't the worst. the Tiki
