Updated my 3G to iOS 4.2.1 yesterday/last night/this morning.
No real complaints so far. Yay, folders!
My phone's been sluggish for awhile now so I didn't imagine it could get any worse. If I didn't have an iPad, the Mail changes might've bugged me, but I'm cool.

Just got the iPad2 as a grad present and I've been playing around with it, lots of fun so far. Couple of questions
Is comic zeal still the go to app for .cbr files? any have any others they recommend?
Are there any apps similar to apple's numbers which would allow me to import excel sheets onto the iPad?
Top game recommendations?
Sorry if this has all been covered, I looked back at the last few pages but didn't read the whole thread.

I've had a chance to try it out and its pretty awesome. I have to name my songs a certain way though so I don't end up with a solar system with one planet (which has one or two moons). My phone's been sluggish for awhile now so I didn't imagine it could get any worse.
My 3G is kinda sluggish as well, I'm thinking about doing a total restore. By the way, I think starting with iOS 4.3 you can use your iPhone as a 'personal hotspot' which lets you connect your iPad (if you don't have a data plan for it) to it and use your iPhone's internet connection. Not sure if you need that sort of thing but I've found it pretty useful when I've been away from a wifi connection. The two devices connect through bluetooth. You can also use it with a laptop (the iPhone will need to be connected by usb).

Every since I upgraded my 3G to iOS 4 my phone has been craptasticly slow. It seems like no update has even come close to fixing the problem. Best of luck to you. Travis

Okay all you iPad owning, (point&click) Adventure game lovers -- time for some deals! First, a Freebie: BACK TO THE FUTURE: EPISODE 1 by Telltale Games (makers of episodic SAM & MAX, MONKEY ISLAND and PUZZLE AGENT games) -- the iPad version is currently FREE for a month or so to celebrate the release of the 4th episode. And for a humorous alternative, there's the recently released iPad version of HECTOR: WE NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS on sale for $2.99 (normally $6.99) for a few weeks. They are also offering a Free LITE version as well. This was originally an iPhone game (which sadly hasn't gone on sale yet) but is being serialized now by Telltale, too. And lastly, if you're feeling nostalgic, the 1992 classic brawler X-MEN Arcade game (universal app) is out and now on sale for $2.99 (normally $4.99).
http://www.youtube.com/v/K9iZH9xoi8g&rel=1---------------------- Side note: both VELOCISPIDER (Universal App for $.99) and 7 LITTLE WORDS (FREE Universal App) are both fun little games.

I totally pulled a rookie mistake and downloaded NBA Jam and The Vault for the iPhone/Touch instead of the iPad versions. The Vault doesn't seem to lose anything since it's a puzzle game, but it's damn near impossible to manipulate NBA Jam in that small space with so much unused real estate on the iPad. You can't really have your thumbs placed correctly. BTW, I see that EA is charging $9.99 for the HD version of NBA Jam. Helllllllllz nah.

Helllllllllz nah. 2 comments. 1) EA, more than any other company, puts their games on sale at a fairly regular clip - every holiday, for sure. The iPad version of NBA Jam was just on sale for Memorial Day for like $5, so look for a Father's Day sale this month. 2) The iPhone version, even at 2x on the iPad, isn't a terrible experience, and the best part is that you can still play locally with someone using the same app on their iPhone - my son and I have played a ton this way, and since he doesn't care about the actual fidelity of the graphics on the iPad, it works great.

The whole DC Reboot/digital launch might not get me reading more DC but its looking like it will finally push me over the edge and get me to buy that ipad that I've been planing to get for some time.
What are some of the essential apps that I should get, comic or non-comic related
Thanks

Words with Friends is a must, in my opinion. Netflix App is also a must. I can't wait to buy a 32GB iPad2 in the coming months. Yippee.

Ok this DC reboot thing has nearly made up my mind of getting an iPad.
I am looking at getting 15 of the 52 titles, and going to try them all out digitally.
Anyways I was wondering, how much are ebooks? Are they like comics where you buy them through an app?
Could someone fill me in on the ways of the tablet and eBooks.
For an example, atm I am reading "The First law trilogy" by Joe Abercrombie. I am just about to finish the first book. How much would the second book, "Before they are hanged" cost me? Is there plenty of options to find it, or is it just Amazon, kindle book store, which had it for like 10 bucks, which I thought was pricey for an eBook, or is this the normal price.
Replies appreciated.

eBook readers like Kindle, iBooks, Nook, Kobo, and Stanza are all free apps. You can use their storefronts to see if anyone has a "copy" cheaper than the others. They also use different formats (.EPUB, .MOBI, etc.). You can (through iTunes) transfer books/.PDFs/documents to the various readers. As with anything, one user may have a preference for one eReader over another.
