I have never heard of Ghost Trick but based on your recommendation I will try it out on my iPad!  It sounds intriguing. Thanks!

Can anybody with a new iPad comment on whether comics from comixology or dark horse look better?

I find something like Nightly News almost unreadable on iPad 2 without zooming into each word balloon

I just got mine up and going and all I can say is... WOW. Text looks super crisp. No need to zoom anymore. You can even read double page spreads in landscape mode without zooming. Blacks are blacker and colors are more vibrant. I'm coming from an iPad 2 and there is no going back. And I'm just talking about the same old books I have from comixology. If you can't get one now, don't look at one, it will just make you upset. Digital comics are the showpiece for this device.

And that's the old resolution upscaled. It's going to look EVEN BETTER when they have retina versions of the comics.

I read this week that their stuff has always been a higher resolution, to accommodate zooming and pc screens. I wonder if the companies will even give them larger files?

Do you guys recommend some type of insurance for an iPad? I've been contemplating whether it's worth it or not

If it's a new iPad, you can get the apple care plus. It costs hundred bucks and covers 2 accidents over 2 years with a $50 deductible.

Not sure if it's the same worldwide but Flickr Studio is free for the first time apparently (originally $4.49). Anyone tried this?

between my ipad, the computer and TV, my eyes are taking a daily beating from monitor glare. my eyes are starting to strain reading ibooks even with the sepia turned on and backlight at the lowest setting.

anybody else notice this? my eyes feel dry and tired. i'm having trouble viewing distant objects.

anyhoo, i've decided to buy a nook simple touch e-reader and do my reading there instead of the ipad. FYI B&N's ebay store is selling refurbs for $65 right now. i'm still keeping the ipad for internet and email.

Any particular reason you went with the Nook, Mike?  Mainly the price?  Or do you have items from the Nook app that'll carry over to the reader?

"price" is always a big factor david.  Wink

but yeah, seriously, price. for $65, you can't go wrong. they were even selling 'em for $60 last week! i just missed the sale by a few days.

plus:
its got a better shape/form than the kindle equivalent.
no ads. (kindle touch has 'em)
can be easily rooted to become an android tablet (voiding your warranty though. be warned!)
better interface
expandable memory
size and weight
the seller is B&N itself. its manufacturer refrubished

(kindle touch does some stuff better though). there's an fairly indepth side-by-side comparison in youtube with the kindle touch.

its a basic reader, so there little to no apps for the simple touch.

FYI they're releasing a new simple touch version soon featuring back lighting that you can toggle on/off. its a gentle glow. pretty nice. price is about $130.

Tried several ereaders and ended up with kindle touch with ads. The ads are completely innocuous - they're on when the device is off/sleep mode (not reading, etc) and that it.

Great devic for what it is.

Today was the last day of school for the summer.  As an end of the year gift, my families pooled their money together and bought me an iPad.  Seriously.  I was blown away, it was a WAY over the top gift (I'm used to a nice card, a small Starbuck's card, etc.).  Now I get to crack this puppy open and actually read this thread!  Can't wait to get started!

My wife is absolutely giddy and still bouncing off the walls because she was lost on the other side of town (thanks to the main road being closed - the same road she was on a half hour earlier) and I navigated her back to civilization using the Find My iPhone app.

Bless you, Steve Jobs.

Hilarious!

We had the same situation this weekend. My wife was taking out daughter to a dace recitle and her directions were off. Using Find My Iphone and google maps I guided her in. I felt like a proper sidekick!

There are so many creative types on the board, is anyone playing Drawsomething?

For those that arent, its a pictionary type game where you draw something for your partner and they guess. Weve been having a lot of fun playing it at home and with people at my work.
