Ms. Marvel's a good book.  Was, anyway.  I'm not sure how it'll be with the new title character.  But your boy is in an upcoming issue.

Have faith. It's STILL the same writer, after all. And how do you explain the 'War of the Marvels' story coming up?

I have faith.  But just like I can't bitch about something that hasn't happened yet, I can't exactly praise it either.  And I can't explain it.  Yet.  We've only seen teasers.  Well, the majority of us have only seen teasers.  We're not all Pat Loika...

So does anyone have a different opinion on Madeline Pryor now?  Or did i just lose most X-fans?

Congrats everyone, especially David Price, on getting 75 shows completed and released!

I think she's hot and has that "freaky in the bed" vibe to her, does that count? Embarrassed

Plus she did give us Nate, which gave us Cable & Deadpool, so I'm thankful for that too.

For myself, your history lessons are like walks down memory lane instead.  I was there when it originally happened and my own impressions still stand out the strongest.  So you haven't done any harm where I'm concerned.  I appreciated the factoid about Maddy's hairstyle being Louise Simonson's (pre-Walter).  I didn't know that.

I did know that she was named after Maddie Pryor, the lead singer of Steeleye Span--a medieval Ren faire-type band best known for singing Celtic folk songs of myth and lore.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/3zzwbYyvWiU&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/3zzwbYyvWiU&rel=1</a>
I was turned on to the band through a science fiction radio interview show here in NYC who played them constantly, and then this character came up in the comic, and I contacted the radio host to ask if he knew about Chris Claremont and the X-Men.  Weeks later, the radio host invited Claremont to interview (because he had also written the novel 'First Flight' at the time) and let me sit in at the radio station.

Good times.

PS:  Writing this reply brought me to do the Google search for the band, and for the first time EVER have I seen a YouTube vid of them.  I had never ever considered looking them up before this second.

Thanks Tom!!

Hi David (and contributors)

Another great show. Thanks!

One thing: in your review of Exiles I think that you say that the issue is not Parental Advisory. In fact it is.
I guess this might have something to do with the fact that the issue closes out with
Wolverine's head on a stick

Minor detail though. Happy 75th!

Good catch, thanks for that.  Serves me right for not having the issue right in front of me.

Thanks for listening!!

Congratulations on episode 75, guys! I'm listening now and just getting ready for Pat's segment.

Glad to hear the good review on Exiles. Honestly, I hadn't paid too much attention to any previous discussion on it after it came out, but I will definitely be going back to grab the first issue and give it a shot

The Maddie Pryor rundown was very educational! I never really cared about the character before, but now, knowing her history, I kinda feel bad for her. In fact, it makes me feel... not *better*, but at least more accepting... of Scott leaving Jean in New X-Men. It's still sort of disappointing, but it's at least an established character flaw.

That character flaw was 'nudged' by Jean from her undead perch in the White Hot Room.  She wanted Scott to get jiggy with Emma so that he'd stay with the X-Men and the future she saw (drawn by Silvestri and featuring Beak's grandson and The Phoenix Egg) wouldn't happen.

You know, I had forgotten it until just now.  I think I didn't want to admit that Jean let it happen.  But that whole Silvestri future story arc happened because when Jean was murdered by Magneto, Scott bugged out and that future occured.  But I don't think all the details were given.  Wiki here I come!

Part II, Spoiler since you didn't finish reading it yet;
Here Comes Tomorrow

Main article: Here Comes Tomorrow

Scott Summers refusal of Emma Frost's offer to re-open Xavier's Institute after Jean's death creates a future timeline in which Hank McCoy re-opens the school. Under the pressure, he takes the drug "Kick", which is revealed to be the aerosol form of the villain Sublime, who possesses Hank McCoy and drives him insane. 150 years later, the near-immortal Beast tries to resurrect Phoenix and use her to destroy every life-form on Earth, except for the creatures created by Sublime itself, only to be defeated by Jean. Phoenix then carries out her disinfection and absorbs the future universe into the "White Hot Room", a higher plane of reality with other Phoenix hosts and 'home' to the consciousness of the Phoenix Force. Jean wears a white variation of her Phoenix outfit and is revealed to be "a White Phoenix of the Crown". Jean reaches back in time and telepathically urges Scott to live. Instead of refusing Emma and leaving the institute, Scott chooses to be with Emma and keep the Xavier Institute alive.
