True, but the GM doesn't take the field. Also, the problems with the Lions didn't stop with Millen.

oh, I agree. I just thought it might make draft day more encouraging. After all, Millen didn't take the field for the Lions but he was making the picks.

But hey, they changed the logo, so that will help. Cardinals make their bird a little meaner and they're in the Super Bowl.

Yes, but the Vikes modified the horns on their helmets and changed their uniforms and what did it get them? Still no Super Bowl... Sad

What do you think of the new Lions logo? I'm glad they didn't make radical changes. I think it looks pretty good, althugh I haven't seen it on a helmet yet.

I think it's fine. I'm glad they didn't make it too radical a change. Its still the same silver and Honolulu Blue. I'm not sold on the font of the logo yet. But I don't hate it.

Even if they don't make it to the Super Bowl for another 20 years, I just hope the Lions do well enough so that they don't lose the Thanksgiving game. That would be a tragedy.

Titans do a great job taking the best player available, and its served them well over the years. To that end, predicting who they'll take is nigh impossible. But as you said, DT and WR are the obvious needs, and there should be a number of prospects in that range to fill both needs.

WRs that might be available and warrant consideration:

*** Percy Harvin, Florida
*** Hakeem Nicks, UNC
*** Kenny Britt, Rutgers
*** Brian Robiskie, Ohio State

DTs that might be available and warrant consideration:

*** Evander Hood, Missouri
*** Ron Brace, B.C.

I think Percy Harvin would be a great pick if he is still available. Of course I thought Pacman was a good pick, but yeah they do a pretty good job with it every year.

BTW I hate that the new time for the draft. I will have to miss it anyway but I always enjoyed having it on in the background all day Sat and Sun.

Giants fan checking in, I love the draft, have some things to do on Saturday but going to sit down with some comics and try to watch as much of it as I can   Rock Horns

the GMen need some playmakers on offense, specifically at WR.  All this Braylon Edwards trade talk has me excited if he can get back to the form he was 2 seasons ago, coincidentally his best game last year was on MNF against the GMen.  I wouldn't mind seeing them pull something off for him if they could.

Would like to see them address LB and get more depth at RB now that Ward is gone.  I know they resigned Jacobs but you figure he is gone for at least a game or two each season with his track record.  Not 100% confident that our only RB at that point would be Bradshaw.

Im hoping the new collective bargaining agreement coming up will put a salary cap on draft picks.  Its just ridiculous for these top picks to keep getting more and more guaranteed money every year. There are reports Stafford would get $40 million guaranteed for 6 years.  I'm all for the top picks getting more, but not more than established veterans. No wonder Detroit doesn't really want the pick.

And Wood if Peria Jerry is available we have to pick him.  Im in Mississippi so I know how good he is. I think he has some serious talent.

Also WR DeMetrius Byrd from LSU went to junior college with me.  He just got into a car wreck this week and is in ICU. They say he will make a full recovery but he definitley lost some money.

Keep an eye on Southern Miss TE Shawn Nelson.

OOOOFFA

Redskins fans rarely enjoy draft day, because Snyder loves to  give his picks away like they're FCBD comics. Look, Washington LOVES Mark Sanchez and I suspect they'll end up with him. Whether he falls to them at 13 or they move up for him remains to be seen, but I say the money play is D.C. gets their QB. If Sanchez is gone before they pick, they SHOULD trade down b/c they only have 5 picks and have a ton of needs. But I can't see Snyder trading down, he just loves marquee names too much.

So their needs, outside of QB, are many...but the most pressing are LB, DE and OT depth. Great class of LBs so someone like a Cushing or Maualuga make sense. There are a bunch of DEs that should come off the board in the teens of this draft, so DC could end up with Maybin, Jackson or Ayers possibly.

I'm with you in that Snyder will probably draft a QB (assuming he doesn't trade our picks away), but they REALLY need some good, YOUTHFUL players on the O-line. So I hope they go for a OT (besides, what's the point of drafting a quarterback you have no real intention of protecting?). After that, DE.

I really don't think their line backing corps is that bad. A little shoring up with someone like Cushing sounds great, but a good offensive tackle seems like the more prudent choice to me.

Seahawks fan here.  They've got the 4th overall pick.  I'm hoping that they'll (finally) draft some offensive linemen.  They seem to be content to wait until Walter Jones drops dead, and/or Hasselbeck does.  The buzz is that they'll go after Mark Sanchez to eventually replace Hasselbeck.  I think Hasselbeck is just fine, and not particularly injury prone despite his recent troubles, if they would just give him some protection.  They might actually be able to run the ball then, too.  Eugene Monroe should be available.  If Jason Smith makes it down to them, that would be a-okay.

FBGs is awesome, but I don't want too many people to know about it.

If we have a community of fantasy football owners here, I was thinking of getting a fun, comics based league going in the fall, we could have all the teams be comics based, and do divisions like Marvel and DC or something like that.  I figured if we get 12 owners and everyone throws in $5, we could buy an Absolute or some HCs from DCBS (free shipping over $50  Thumbs Up) and the winner of the league could take home something cool like that.  With all the free options for site hosting now it would make this pretty easy to put together.

I am not sure about the interest level and how many fantasy football fans are out there and if we could get 12 from the site but I would love to give it a shot, some extra fun during the season.  if anyone reading this thread is interested just let me know.

I am listening to the local Pittsburgh Sports talk radio.  Kevin Colbert (Steelers GM) is on right now and he istalking heavily about moving up a little.

One thing is for sure, we will not need a Field Goal kicker as long as we have our crazy Cousin Jeff...

In all honesty, Jeff Reed is a funny ass character (Just enough crazy to be funny but not disrupt team flow) and I honestly believe I'm not being a homer by saying he doesn't get the national love he deserves.

I am happy with the Giants draft, they addressed their major needs with Hakeem Nicks at WR and Clint Sintim at LB.  I thought getting Beatty in the late 2nd was good, the Giants OL is one of the best in the league imo so if he needs time to develop it seems like he has a good system to learn in.

Also have to give some props to my home state of CT, UConn represented with 4 players drafted including Donald Brown in the first to the Colts.  That was the first time a UConn player was drafted before the third round ever and in this draft they had 4 guys go by the third round.  Randy Edsell is doing a great job there developing that program.

My Cowboys did not even draft in the first round! I mean yeah we got Roy Williams(WR) for our first pick but so our next pick was 51 and we traded down! I used to have all the faith in the world in this franchise but it is slowly fading.  Bangs Head
