Did you re-enforce the bookshelves at all? The IKEA Billy line is pretty weak and I've read many a horror story about the shelves collapsing from the weight of too many hardbound comic books (like Marvel Omnibuses, etc.). Personally I would have sprung for or attempted to build custom shelves for that exact space. What you have looks nice, but I'd still worry about the strength of those shelves.
Not a fan of the differing hardwood floors either, but that's just my personal taste.
Overall, cool stuff. I definitely want a personal library some day.
