I haven't mentioned it yet, but, I sure like yr show. It's quickly become my favorite comics podcast. You guys have a great rapport and it's obvious that you all love comics and have collectively read everything ever published ever. Plus, there's the booze, which acts as the gas on that fire (kind of how booze works on Paradise Hotel 2). Thanks for the entertainment and the laughs. - Matt

I have stopped paying attention to sales numbers for my own sanity.
If they printed an issue of Uncanny X-Men (or Batman for that matter) that was completely blank on the inside and had a cover that said "First completely Blank Issue!", you would still have people who would buy it to make sure their run is complete. The elephant in the room is always going to be the collectibility aspect, which trumps quality for some people.

You have to admit that the Sketch Variant would be sweet though.

In many ways, I was that guy for 25 years. The DNA still runs through me, which is why I bought Countdown start to finish even though I hated it. But I am much better now at dropping books when I just can't stand them.

For myself, When I was buying runs (and I buy not one now in terms of current books), I have to admit I never viewed any of them as sub-par. It seems now that a dozen new issue #1's come out each month the decision does creep up more though. I never stopped by a run becasue it cuked they either ended (Sandman) or it occurred when I got out of comics.

Yah! 11:00 continues it's blitzkrieg! Haven't been posting too much because I'm on a bus every night. No wi fi, too many people around and general rockness will cure one of the Internet habit, toot sweet. However, the show is blazing along and the forum is getting better and better. Look Ma! no censorship and nobody died! I promised Vince I'd phone in but there's no time and it's too fucking noisy all time. What I HAVE been doing is recording messages when I can. I'll start sending them this week. Pissed at missing Wizard World Chicago. Bad timing. I miss this place!

Distinct? Yes. Can tell it's his work? Sure. But I see a difference in the work he did on Green Lantern and what he did on Eternals #1.
Would that distinction be Green Lantern = abomination as compared to Eternals = passable? If so, that matches up with how I sees 'em.

What about his Lantern work pushed it into the abomination category? I thought it was pretty swizzy stuff.

Personally, the art there looked too damn muddy for my own tastes. Maybe it was the color work he did as opposed to the actual linework underneath that turned me off to his images. It probably didn't help things that Reis was the artist before and after the Acuna issues; I've already filed for a same-sex marriage license to Ivan Reis here in California, so that gives you an idea what I think about his art.

Well, how exactly do you argue with that? I guess some just feel cheated if they're not getting their linework...

Well, how exactly do you argue with that? I guess some just feel cheated if they're not getting their linework... So even after Senor Chavez states why he wasn't thrilled with the art there are groans from the audience. I know for me, I enjoy looking at artwork that I can't do myself. Maybe when someone sees a panel like this: they don't want to feel like they could have bought a coloring book and done it themselves. I suppose (yes, because art is subjective) he has a way with color. I can see - like Michael Turner, like Alex Ross, like Stephen Platt - why people would like his work. And I can see why Chris would find it muddy and maybe want to see an actual outline in black and not a darker color green to show shading or muscle. After months of detail with Reis and Albert, it was quite a style change.

From a strict OA vantage point I was absolutely not interested in the inked of those inked Green Lantern pages (that were for sale by Spencer Beck from the Sinestro War issues) for sale and absolutely blown away by some of the examples of just the Reis pencils.

Crazy rock stars... Glad to hear everything's going well, but you are missed, so don't stay away too long. We're greedy like that. And a little selfish. As for Chicago, make sure you're free at the beginning of August 2009!

Oh crap, I was worried about keeping up the drinking pace with Sodomy (Vince) and Gamorra (David), but now one masters could be there too? WTF, everyone pull up a chair and throw 'em back!

Actually, the banging the head emoticon and the how do you argue with that line is more directed to Chris' remark about filing for the same sex marriage license- I probably should've quoted that directly... so there you go, Mr. Price... And BTW, that sample looks AWESOME... I know as I'm trying to get myself back into drawing, acuna is one of the guys I'm looking at these days...
