I think I'm lazy and I wish I could see the whole list at once, rather than one villain at a time.

They lost me with my first look at #100. MODOK is #100?

No way, MODOK is #1, baby!

I should be working right now so I just looked at 100-90 and snuck a peek at the top 20, which is too X-heavy for my tastes. I love that Galactus made the top 5 but there's no way I can consider Magneto the #1 villain in comics and he's the only X-villain I'd include in the top 20. I think both #2 (Joker) and #3 (Dr. Doom) rank higher than Magneto.

Let the debates begin!

Jim

PS.) Karma to Farrell. I'm lazy too.

 Thinking
If I were to sit down and name every villain I could think of that's probably what the list would look like. I didn't expect to agree with anything on the list and wasn't surprised. Whoever did it obviously put a lot of thought into it though, so on those merits it's a pretty good list. I didn't really do a whole lot of browsing on the site. What prompted the list?

I agree it would be better to see them all at once, but it was very interesting.Someone did put some time into it. I figured it was a good way to get everybody talking about their favorite villains and see where they land.

OK, I lied. Looked at the top 10. It contains Ra'as Al Ghul, Dark Phoenix and Galactus (who isn't even a villain)

Agreed! I think over the time a lot of Mag's edge have been worn off, however he's by default to categorize in the top ten since his character has a lot of subtext when he's written good. And that makes him a good villian.
Doom and the Joker right in a different league, though  Surrender

I love Magneto, my favorite Marvel villain, in fact, but #1 has to be Lex Luthor for me.

But Jim, Galactus ISN'T a villain. He's just doing what he needs to do to survive.

 Thinking Yes

I always feel sorry for Magneto because he's exactly what he hates. Such Shakespearian Irony is a curse

Something I always wanted to discuss. Is a person who destroys the nature surrounding him in order to survive a bad person for not looking for an alternative? Is Galactus isn't an inert being, it's quite the contrary he's a powerful being that is able to grant mighty powers to other (lesser) beings. So, why can't he live in symbiose with the universe and eat already dead planets, or even gather knowledge about harvesting planets?

I think it's something IGN does every couple of years. Every time, Magneto is #1...

He's a villain, he's just not a malicious criminal. He usually plays the role of villain in that he opposes the hero(es) of the story and even if he's just doing what he needs to survive, he's still responsible for the deaths he causes. Since that can entail destroying an entire planet and it it's population, that makes him a rather monumental villain.

Of course, he's still no Modok. Wink

I have some quibbles with the numberings, but I think it's well-written.

Points for including Herr Star. Zoom's about right at 37 (though he'd be top 5 for me).

Can not disagree more with Amanda Waller being on the list. Great character -- often a great hero; frequently just a great protagonist/antagonist -- but definitely NOT a villain.

And the absence of Captain Boomerang . .  don't get me started. Ha.

That was a fun several minutes wasted.

Red Skull is 19!!! Bangs Head

He should be number 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do Lex, Doom, Joker and Magneto have in common?  They have never successfully killed their main rival, and they all hate NAZIs!  Hell Magneto would kill the Red Skull if he was ever in the same room.

Me too. But it could also be a nice touch having one at time to make you take your time.
I used have a trading card with that Fin Fang Foom picture on it.

Overall list is a good compilation; however, the ranking leaves much to be debated.
