...and the action sequences that followed were more punch-by-punch than the collections of splash image poses that many physical confrontations are solely comprised of today. The creative team made the best they could of these crossovers, imo, having lasting story elements such as Sue/Malice and the top of their headquarters being blown off, and Ryan and Bulanadi obviously were channeling Perez's vibes, as they went wild with characters!

I just realized I like the top of FF headquarters getting blown off. I loved it in Thunderbolts and didn't realize I had seen that in the Infinity War as well.

The current art made me go back to look at these issues and realized that this is Johnny dealing with the fact that his wife has not been Alicia. Grrrr. Horrible thief of a retcon right here. MOURN Jonathan Storm! MOURN FOR THE BEAUTIFUL IDEA THAT DIED STRANGLING!!

Yeah, I'm reading these now. They were getting a lot of peanut butter in the chocolate in these issues and we'll see what becomes of Sue as a result. Steve Raker, I want you to read over these too. Tell me if your memory of here-Sue is the same.

I just re-read these issues last year for that series of Marvel Noise bits on this run. It's still a bit chaotic until after this crossover, and then, for good or bad, it hits its groove. Hey, it Strong Guy kicking Galactus in the shoulder? ...no resepect I tells ya!

As I recall she fights it, but in a time of stress and required take-action leadership, She incorperates Malice for the needed extra strength to help the team/family, then has to deal with the fallout (being a little bitchy, but confident, which helps out immensely as the arc moves along). Then she dons the hot outfit, has Namor, Scott Lang and Ben all pining for her and uses all that emotion and longing to facilitate her position as leader, which she grows into quite nicely, making the run one of my top 3 FF long-term FF runs (behind Lee/Kirby and Byrne).

Day 368 Issue 368:
"Mutant Mistress of Meteorology" would be a better aliteration.

Now I'm wondering where you place the Waid and Simonson runs Or is long-term the key word there?

I'll read them over and see if I can credit the dialogue with that take on it. Here's what I saw; While out hunting down Warlock/Magus and the Infinity Gauntlet with all those heroes, Sue has a psychic battle with Malice. (Now I can't even remember which one won. Prolly Sue.). When it was over, Sue is with all the crossover heroes, in a transport continuing the hunt. They ask her if she's okay and she says yes, then there's a panel where she gives the reader that "I've got a secret" look. Soon as she gets back to Reed, she verbally rips on him for being the FF's weak link and getting the Baxter Top blown up and getting his arse whooped by his double (see Reed's mouth full of Doppleganger-fist). She goes on to snap at most everyone else, changes her costume into VavaVoom Girl, snaps at Reed again for not grooving on her new look, and remains sorta bulldaggery until Reed goes missing. I think they tried to make it obvious that Malice had gotten way more traction than was good for her, accentuating her verbal barbs with silent panels of the shook-up faces of those she lit into.

I think that the writer has you right where he wants you at this point in the story....I think the somewhat empowering assimilation of the Malice persona is still to come, and 'finishes up' this first phase of Susie's story under DeFalco/Ryan & Bulanadi. ....and look out, here comes Namor!
