Your not kidding. I have no idea what the latest panel references. Looks like one of those suits Ben wore when he didn't have any powers only modern for Johnny. And what kind of device is Reed holding back there?

Does it Transcendentalize TM or Disarrate TM brains? ...or does it just zest very large lemons that might be found in the Negative Zone.

I'm going to go with lemons. Baby Annihilus likes his lemon trees. Isn't that why he fights Blastarr all the time. He can grind the lemons right on his spikes too. Johnny's outfit is kind of orange/yellow too

OKAY. Going back-surfing has revealed how naughty naughty Brian tricked us with this pic from this ish. 1) This was from inserted Spider-Man "bonus pages." Nothing to do with FF continuity, and prolly not even SPIDER-MAN continuity. Bad Brian! Spank! 2) Please allow me to correct myself. I said this; Now THAT is true. During Weiringo & Waid, she was just a toddler, then she was just a little girl --either of which could have grown up to be the teenage Valeria Doomsdottir we first met. But now that Hickman's gone and made her a syupaaaaGENIUS all along, yeah, she bears no resemblance to Marvel Girl. Which is bunk if she's the same genetic thing that grew up to be Marvel Girl in another timeline. Unless THAT Marvel Girl was a syuuuuuupaGENIUS as well, but she chose to act like an average teenage girl w/powers just to ... um ... just to ... oh I got nothin'. But I was wrong. Ohhhhh, SO wrong. It wasn't Hickman that made Valeria a genius. It was CLAREMONT. ("HuhWHA" you say??) YES. And not only this, but Mark Millar is once again vindicated. (I'm naughty for "blaming" Hickman at first but now "giving credit" to Millar. Now *I* deserve a spanking! Yes! A good spanking! SPANK M-- oh. er, sorry. Where was I...?) In Issue #558, Millar "reveals" that Valeria is a child-genius and has been all along. But what I discovered from issue "452" (then called #23) is the following; For those of you who do not want to slog through Claremont voluminous writing, Reed is discovering, and Claremont is revealing, that teenaged Valeria Von Doom is in fact a suuuuuupa-GEEEENIUS. Now, I remember at the time that the Claremont-speak ("He barfs, boy, you clean up the mess." "Now hush Franklin, sister's working.") and his insistance on us loving Valeria was WAY too pushy, so I never remembered this part. But upon re-reading it, I find I know why. With everything else that Claremont was cramming down our throats, I quickly dismissed this little missy's genius as another aspect of writer fan-wank. Mark Millar remembered it though, and brought it back in #558. Along with his Nu-World/Old Man Logan/1985 comic arc, I say he deserves another level of praise that I hadn't even REALIZED. And I promise to give more credit to Hickman and say hello to him next time I pass him on the street (like we did outside Virgil's BBQ during my birthday weekend. Yes, I consciously said to myself when he was identified chatting with Neseman, "But ... but I don't like what he did to the FF...!"). Amen.

At least Valeria wasn't annoying back then as she is now.

You did indeed. Still the Claremont hate.... At least Valeria wasn't annoying back then as she is now. I say she is. But please understand. I could never hate Claremont. I named myself after his brainchildren. His concepts of mutants define my online presence. And at NYCC, he's the only writer I recognized while he was walking incognito on the showroom floor. (Wait ... and Peter David.) I owe Claremont A. LOT. But after his classic run on the X-Men, his wordiness and -isms just started clogging up the page and my brain. I'd say that today, for me, he's the equivalent of an artist whose drawing hand has gone noticably wonky. Anyways, I'd have to say that in hindsight, Valeria has been consistently annoying in both her genius Uber-child incarnations. She was only ever tolerable in the Loeb/Pacheco (yes, that's right --my search has revealed the writer behind the Pacheco pages) and her Waid/Weiringo cooing toddler phase. I will be supplementing with more supporting pics in the days to come of Loeb/Pacheco. I found a particularly interesting shot of Sue making her re-pregnant belly skin invisible to show Valeria inside there...

I know. That's why I gave the winking. It's just that whenever the Claremont/Larroca run came up there was a lot of discussion some of it negative and then after there was a lull. But after his classic run on the X-Men, his wordiness and -isms just started clogging up the page and my brain. I'd say that today, for me, he's the equivalent of an artist whose drawing hand has gone noticably wonky.
I think that's a good description of where he is today. Anyways, I'd have to say that in hindsight, Valeria has been consistently annoying in both her genius Uber-child incarnations.
Now your making me think of why I didn't find her annoying back then but find her more annoying now. Her being a little kid probably makes a difference but it's more than that. She was only ever tolerable in the Loeb/Pacheco (yes, that's right --my search has revealed the writer behind the Pacheco pages) and her Waid/Weiringo cooing toddler phase. I liked her but less so now. I think Loeb was only there for the script or at most a co-plotter too with the run. I didn't mind it. I will be supplementing with more supporting pics in the days to come of Loeb/Pacheco. I found a particularly interesting shot of Sue making her re-pregnant belly skin invisible to show Valeria inside there... Sweet! You have to admit that's interesting to say the least.

Ha! Whoops, I had no idea. I've been zooming through these issues and anytime I see Spidey and Mysterio I cave. Also, consider this post as me apologizing for any of the issues I get the number wrong for the stupid renumbering junk. I know I will or have got it wrong at some point.

And the freshly dripping bucket of water she undoubtedly just doused him with?
