Is that what you're really thinking, Santa Claus? Very disappointing.

I wonder if these are the same Monastery guys from that Lobdell/Claremont FF era. Regardless it's interesting something like that popped up again later. Wouldn't these be the same monks from waaaaaaaaay back in FF Annual #2?

They could be that too. At some point they picked up more modern weaponry. Or #396 could have taken place on another world with the how wacky the FF is sometimes.

This issue is totally wild, with the FF caught in a war between Celestials and the Watchers....and Sue's invisibility force-fields are revealed to compose of energy drawn from the Celestials particular hyperspace/dimensional frequency (the armor is what allows their forms to take form and operate/act upon matter in our universal plane), and so Sue can rupture and even harm the Celestials! Again, this entire run speaks to me as Sue's story, here both enlightened and empowered to literally be 'the most powerful member of the team'. ....and did anyone notice that the Malice-inspired 'revealing' costume (which was an amalgamation of Malice's original duds mixed with the FF uniform design, with the same cutaway stomach shape, etc.) was abandoned several issues ago, yet those critical of this run tend to reduce this sweeping saga to awkward cheesecake service? It really didn't last that long overall, yet that's what some focus and get stuck on in order to dismiss this series.

I'm suprised the device's name didn't end with '-inator' ala Heinz Doofenshmirtz of Phineas & Ferb fame!

Not only did she bedazzle your senses and entrance your mind but made you forget how to dress as well. ....and made the writers of this awful crossover 'Atlantis Rises' produce a lame, confusing, sprawling tale.....couldn't end fast enough for me!
