I see where it's coming into the panel but .... where does it go OUT from Reed?
That does appear to be a goof. No Prizes all around. In the spirit of that thread with great action sequences; here is a bonus from this ish: I love that first panel where he is just sorta sliding the leg slowly away...then we got one where it is snaking around all the machines...then the one with the missing leg, just hanging there...we know what is coming now but that stupid Skrull hasn't a clue.....then BLAMMO!!!! Just a great big moment panel. Notice how the Skrull is knocked to the left while Reed is leaning right, perfect juxtaposition and design but it makes sense from a "what's going down" sense. And check out the flash effect (thank you manga) behind the Skrull neatly taking out the busy machinery so we can focus on Skrully getting the beat down. And also notice Reed coiling up his right fist for...... Swud! Right in the kisser, then the next panel, um not sure what Reed is spooming him with, but if that is the back of his head, and there is the belt then...hmmmm...moving on..to the last panel we have the classic "NO!" yell along with Kirby dots and a hellavu page turn. Just a great sequence, and I don't even consider myself that big a Perez fan but that is some good comics.

And check out the flash effect (thank you manga)... You've confused me, Bryan. I don't think that effect as used in American comics was derived from manga, was it? Thanks for the bonus panels! Jim

Ha! I was worried I would get called on that, I have no idea. I always assumed any starburst effects like that were done in manga first since it is used so much.

Sorry I was the one who called you on it. I think the effect originated here and worked it's way into manga. It's definitely used a lot in manga. On the other hand, I think the "leaping character against a bunch of background motion lines effect" may have started in manga. Jim

I think one of the pieces of debris in the background is miscolored. Don't ask about the "spoom."

So that's why it doesn't match up with the others. It looked too different.

I considered the debris, but the debris are all debris shaped with debris-shading. If any of those were his leg colored incorrectly, wouldn't they have been like a smooth continguous tube shape? (I just said smooth contiguous tube shape without nary a dirty thought. I am AWESOME.)

Day 604 Issue Annual #17: Byrne is revisiting a story from way back in FF # 2, and of course this panel was a favorite of mine too way back in the thread. Yay memory lane.

Which also, this is the revelation of the fate of the town that inherited the Skrull Cows from that historic issue as well, right?? The original BEFORE the appearances of the Skrull Kil Crew?

Are we getting a panel from FF #588 the "final issue" after the annuals are done?
A semi-sequel for Future Foundation panel a day maybe???
