Studying for the bar exam has put a serious hamper on my efforts to get through this pile.  It also doesn't help that I have to be studying the law when all I really want to do is break out the comics.

My regina pile has grown to epic proportions, I hope to make some headway over vacation at the end of the month, but at the rate that I am getting more and more trades this might be a battle I never win.   Surrender

When I first started reading comics and checking out the EOC community I was amazed that you guys could get Regina piles that were taller than you.  Well almost 3 years later, a few Essentials, a couple of omniboo, a couple dozen trades and almost a hundred back issues and mine is steadily starting to resemble the Leaning Tower of Pisa.  Every time I put a moratorium on buying stuff until I've knocked out a large chunk of Regina, another TFAW, LCS, or similar sale has me digging in my wallet because the deals are too good to pass up.

Every year during Thanksgiving and Christmas vacation I think that I'll catch up on some collected editions, but I usually fall further behind.  I take on larger projects around the house and don't even read what I would normally and it takes about a month or two to catch up with my normal reading.  I catch up more at the end of the week waiting for my DCBS shipment.  So good luck.

My recommendation is that everyone becomes bed-ridden with some kind of harsh cold or bronchitis for a few days.  This is an extremely effective way to catch up on any regina piles you may have collected.

Sure it may be a bit much, but it really helps!  Thumbs Up

I had that exact same struggle when I was studying for the exam a few years back.  You've only got a few weeks to go.  The comics will be there when you pass.

That said, take some time off every day.  You're really not going to gain much, if anything, after 8 hours of studying.  Take some breaks and crack open a comic.

Thanks guys, I'm definitely not one of those people who's got their head buried in outlines 24/7 so I am getting some comic reading in to relax and de-stress, just not nearly as much as I'd like.  Only a month and a half till the exam, just gotta keep telling myself that.

Just read Daredevil books. Two birds. One stone.

I couldn't agree more.  When I was studying for it years ago, I went through the exact same thing.  I worked on my Regina pile during breaks for lunch and dinner.  Comics and baseball were the only things I paid attention to that summer that wouldn't help me on the multi-state.

So...I've come to the realization that my regina pile is out of control.  The main problem is that I switched to trades exclusively about 3 years ago and I have the good fortune of being able to head down to my LCS and pick up whatever hardcover/trade I want for 35% off minimum (and they have nearly everything in stock).  I don't want to rob myself of the joy of getting new books either, so I plan to begin "limiting" my purchases to one book per visit until I make it through my regina pile.

Here's the rundown...

Light Brigade
JLA/Avengers
Solomon Grundy
Daredevil: Hell to Pay vol. 1
Daredevil: Hell to Pay vol. 2
Hawkman: Wings of Fury
Elephantmen vol. 3
Definitive Queen & Country vol. 1
Marvel Illustrated: The Three Musketeers
Marvel Illustrated: Man in the Iron Mask
Umbrella Academy vol. 1
Cowboy Ninja Viking vol. 2
Sleeper: Season 2
Scalped: vol. 4
Invincible Ultimate Collection vol. 6
Batman & Robin: Batman Must Die
The Flash: The Dastardly Death of the Rogues
Alien Legion Omnibus vol. 1
Ex Machina: Deluxe Edition vol. 5
Simonson Thor Omnibus
S.H.I.E.L.D.  Architects of tForever
Starman Omnibus vol. 1
Hellboy: The Wild Hunt
Captain America: The Trial of Captain America
Red Hulk: Scorched Earth
Siege
Avengers Prime
R.E.B.E.L.S. vol. 2
R.E.B.E.L.S. vol. 3
Batwoman: Elegy
Taskmaster: Unthinkable
Spider-man: The Gauntlet vol. 2
Incognito
American Vampire

Somewhere along the way I need to finish my collection of Tom Clancy books too.  (I bought a nearly complete run from a used book store that was going out of business last year.

Just wanted to come in here and say thanks to everyone for the positive vibes and motivation while I was studying for the bar.  Finished my exam today and I'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing.  Most importantly I can spend the whole month of August digging into that nice big stack of comics I've been waiting to read!

That's good news mate. Well done and enjoy the reading!

On a side note, I've just reassessed my regina pile - it stands at 7 1/2 long boxes and about 200 trades. I really need to stop buying books.

I have about 20 monthly comics to read at the moment, which is nothing.  But, I counted the number of collected editions in the Regina pile, and....

223 books.

Which is why I've cut back my monthly orders to 25 monthlies and the essential collected editions, including those that may not be available for long (e.g. Artist Editions, Omniboo, etc.)

Holy crap! And I assume some of those aren't the normal 6 issue trades. Omnibus....essentials....etc?

Yeah, I know.  Omniboos? Yes.  Essentials? No.  And LOTS of thick hardcovers like EC Archives, Masterworks, Creepy Archives, Absolutes.  Its a great problem to have.

at the moment i've got about 7 collected editions (including the simonson thor omni, gonna start from scratch on that even though i've fairly recently read the first chunk in issues), and a stack of about 15 single issues.

I found a box of showcases that I have yet to read 5 or 6 of 'em. I forgot I had them.  Roll Eyes  that's a lot of comics!

plus a buch of other stuff, the good news is I cut down my new purchases until my to read pile is less than 5 books.

I should do that.  But then I wouldn't have an excuse to go to the LCS and see my friends.

I have no LCS friends so its easy for me to stay home.

We should do a regina pile challenge. Iknow there has been before but maybe it'll get some of us on our asses to read this stuff
