Not a text from Pat, but a quote from someone some love to hate and something that's probably at home in this thread (maybe):
ďWhen I took over as editor-in-chief, Tom DeFalco, who was the editor-in-chief before Bob Harras, who I took over the job from, he came into my office, smacked me on the back ó Tomís a friend ó and said, ĎIím gonna give you some advice. From this point on, you have a very big target on your back. Youíre going to have to have very broad shoulders. If youíre not going to do that, youíre not going to like this job.í And at the end of the day, Iím making comic books. So I have some comic book fans thatíre making fun of me. Iím not trying to resolve the economy, Iím not trying to solve things between Palestine and Israel, you know, itís comic books and the worst thing we do is we kill off some trees and we piss off some fanboys. But as long as we do our jobs right, at the end of the day, I want to be able to look back when I either get shown the door or I walk out of it myself, I want to be able to look back and say, we gave everybody a great ride. The storyís really good. Itís all about story.Ē Ė Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada, on dealing with a vocal fanbase
Sounds like the kind of reflective comment that someone makes right before they step down. Joe may be stepping down as EiC but not leaving Marvel (remember, he just received a new titlehead in Marvel's animation division). that's right I said it, Joe Q. is stepping down for new challenges.
Am I crazy... or am I right?! We'll find out ....
