great episode guys
Far Side has to be my favorite comic, that stuff always cracked me up
I was digging all the Nexus talk, I had gotten the trade of the first 3 issues from the TFAW nick and dent sale and I pulled it off the shelf today to read after hearing Wood talk about it.
as always, it was fun listening to you guys talk about comics.

Well, if that don't say it all, NE, then I don't know what does. Bravo, good sir.

Matt do you do requests? I see on your online CV you do the following: The queens English, Cockney, Mancunian, Liverpudlian, Scotish, Irish, Italian American, Southern American, Mr Hannibal Lecter, Kevin Spacey as Verbal in the Usual Suspects, Robert Shaw in Jaws, Vinny Jones in Snatch, Mr Tummble from CBBCs Something Special.
I'm particularly interested in hearing your Mr Tummble as having a four year old its a voice that has become burnt into my brain.

Karma. Nexus is quality stuff, and Steve Rude is a beast with few peers. Like many artists you can see his growth before you very eyes when reading collections of their seminal works. Rude in the last issue of that collection versus the 1st issue is markedly improved, and it only gets better from there.

My favorite newspaper strips back in the day were:
Star Wars: The Al Williamson artwork was off...the...CHAIN!
Peanuts: Anytime Franklin got to play with the Peanuts gang and Snoopy, I was happy.
Beetle Bailey: Even as a kid I knew they were pretty much using the same gag or motif every single day, but I didn't care.
Very good episode, and I really enjoyed the Nexus talk. I've never read Nexus. Ever. But, I've always been a fan of Steve Rude's art. Time to add it to my ever-growing list on needed comics.
Looking forward to 68!

Oh, and I forgot that I received the first 4 issues of Wednesday Comics in my DCBS Shipment this weekend.
After reading the 1st two issues, MIND = BLOWN.
The Metamorpho story is off the chain, and I'm so digging the José Luis García-López art for the Metal Men. The Flash comic reads like the old-school romance comics, and Ryan Sook's Kamandi is KING.
I'm loving this!

Yep...great comics, aren't they? This is one of those titles where I find myself making a mental note of who likes it and who doesn't, and fair or not, I'll probably be less likely to take a person's next recommendation if they're not digging this book.

Not to be negative becuase there is so much goodness packed into Wednesday Comics but for me, I am just not feeling the Wonder Woman comic that much. I don't know what it is, I am not a huge fan of the character to begin with but I find it confusing and a little too much. It seems to stick out in regards to all the other pages each issue.
I am going to give it another shot once I have all 12 and read it straight through and see if that helps because tI am just loving all the other comics so much I need to give it one more chance (cue Biggie music in the background)

Wood, Karma to you and to David, you guys were right on, this book is dope. Started reading it last night and I almost lost my shit when , I love sci-fi stuff like this. Looking forward to seeing the progression you mention. The first trade is an oversized black and white beauty, its a cool format to check this book out in. add this to the long list of books the podcasters have been right about...

I'm loving Wednesday Comics so much that I bought #4 twice. I had ordered it from my comic store in Toronto, but due to the arrival of the little one, couldn't get to the store. I went to my backup store, in town and picked up a copy, because of all the books, I didn't want to wait for it. I passed it along by leaving it in the lounge at the hospital, and saw a guy reading it when we were discharged on Friday.
Mission accomplished!

I just love the whole non-continuity of the comic. No need to worry about DC history, just sit back and enjoy. I feel you on the Wonder Woman comic; and I'm a Wonder Woman fan. There was so much story that was trying to be told in the 1st issue of the Wonder Woman story that the font size was too small, IMO. It looks nice, but hopefully it will get better. Karma to you for mentioning B.I.G., now I've got to play that song on my iPod.

But it's an anthology so are you taking mental notes about which strips people like or do they have to like them all? Jim

Totally agree with everything you say, NE. Except for the part about giving it another chance. And the Biggie music.

And the Biggie music. oh Dallan, we were on a roll there too if you haven't listened to Biggie just look up I Got a Story to Tell and you'll realize why he was the greatest. Then stick around for Sky's the Limit and pretty much the rest of the double Life After Death album.
