UPDATE (05/16/12)

hey guys,
in case you're interested, i'll be doin' some "quick and dirty" commishes for the rest of may up until the end of june.

what's "quick and dirty" you might ask? well, that's what i call the alphabet avengers drawings i just did. if you're unfamiliar, check out the alphabet avengers thread in the drawing room, or head on over to theothermike.com.

for $20 you'll get a (nearly) finished pencil drawing on 8.5x11 cardstock. i'll be sure to make it big to give you your money's worth. Cheesy one character per page. shipping will be $5. i might be able to be persuaded to digitally color the piece. Cheesy

if you're interested, or you want a quote or if you want a regular commish, or if you just want to shoot the shit, send me a note thru the boards or email me at theothermike[dot]d@gmail[dot]com.

I just got this commish a couple days ago. I think it's very nice and it was a pleasure working with Mike. All I asked for was Iron Man in classic armor next to Tony Stark. This is going in a frame and up on my wall.

Exactly! Like a eight episode mini-series adapting 'the demon in the bottle'-saga, man, that would be awesome! But I guess we can only dream. And don't be thanking me for karma. Talent should be karma-ed.
My only critiscm I have is aimed towards your GL piece, it seems that the right leg is gone. Was that intended and I'm being stupid, or was it a little faux-pas?

yep thats on purpose. its bent backwards at the hip, so only the top of the thigh shows. dynamic foreshortening i think them fancy artist types call it. i probably screwed up where the thigh meets the groin. instead of the high arch, i should have gone flatter... that's why it looks chopped off. good eye, tho.

I like the coloring that your friend did. It really changes the whole thing for me. Mad Men rocks. It would be nice to see a nod to the Silver Age of comics in that show.

That's pretty sweet. I don't like Jack Black but I might still have to pick that game up.

Tom Schaefer makes killer games, Jack Black is the face that'll bring in non gamer fans. Hopefully.  I want Brutal Legend to do really well.

me too. a successful tim schaefer/double fine can only be good for the whole industry.

commish for ben glendenning aka skulljammer

this is his character "tin star tex". ben just said he wanted tex fighting a vampire gorilla and left the design of the baddie to me. i was inspired by the old max schrek nosferatu and incorporated that in with the gorilla. (it might not be identifiable, but that was the intent Smiley ) i'm not too happy with my pencil rendering of the fur, but fortunately ben bailed me out with the excellent colors.

(i did the brutal legend pic shortly after, that's why they're thematically similar.)

colors by ben glendenning
