I can't speak for DCBS, because I use mycomicshop.com, and I can tell you guys through there anyway, we got the Black Lantern rings sent to us with our Blackest Night issues...

I can see one of the LCS's I know putting the rings in the 50 cent vending machine they put their hero clix into. They would make a ton a scratch having fanboys try to get EVERY color.

I love it and am getting the crossovers but honestly how many more tie-ins can there be?

they even told us this wouldn't happen. I'm not angry and I'll probably read them all for the cool rings(and I already read most of them anyway)But how much will they lie to us?

He orders 50 copies, gets his 50 rings, and gives one away for free with a purchased copy of R.E.B.E.L.S..  People gotta have their rings, so they buy the books.  They're not going to NOT read the book once it's actually in their house, and a lot of them like it.  10 out of the 40 people who weren't already getting it like it enough that they add it to their pull list.  Now the LCS owner has $13 a month in new, renewable income.

Yeah, that's just the way I assumed it'd be executed, because it's the only logical way.

You want the ring? Buy and try the book it's tied to. Don't want the book?  No ring for you. Next!

Any store that isn't doing this, frankly, deserves to be stuck with the extra books.  It's a tax on stupidity.

My LCS guy and I had a conversation about these rings today.  I believe he is going to do a similiar promotion to (buy the book, get the ring).  He wants to utilize this opportunity to gain more title pulls.  If a GL fan picks up one copy all these titles and decides to add JUST ONE of them to their pull list, Its a win, win, win situation (DC wins, the LCS wins and the reader discovers something new... Win!)  

He also liked the fact that DC is allowing the LCSs to be as creative as they want to be when it comes to handing these puppies out.

If DCBS ends up sending their customers rings for those titles, I suppose I'll end up with whatever color goes along with R.E.B.E.L.S.  That would be it for me.

I will absolutely buy Booster's Gold #26, Adventure Comics #4, Outsiders #24 and Justice League Of America #39 assuming there is a free ring with each issue.  I was going to buy the other three anyway and I already have the black ring so having a full set is well worth checking out four comics I was already on the fence about checking out.  Now I might end up reading some of those books regularly if I like them enough.  Good going DC, u bastards.  If this promo gets more people reading REBELS it's a complete win.

Got a note back from DCBS today letting me know that they will be offering the rings to customers.  They have to figure out the details though.

Also, I suggested putting together a package deal where you can get all the books and all the rings.  They like that idea and are going to put something together on that too (in addition, I believe, to being able to get individual rings tied to individual books).
