Hey all!
Im wondering if anyone has any ideas on this; At my girlfriend's office, they do a Christmas gift thing where they randomly pick names of underprivileged youth and buy em gifts. She drew the name of a 13 year old boy and when she asked me for suggestions, I immediately thought of a subscription to Maxim - kidding, I said comics might be cool.
I mean, when I was 13 anyway- I dunno about today's youth but maybe he'd dig em, yknow? Could create a new comics reader...I can dream.

So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what comics (say a trade or two) we could pick up for a 13 year old dude who theoretically may not even like comics, and who I know absolutely nothing about! Hahahah! I know, tall order, but what the heck.

Any thoughts?

The first couple Spider-Man: Brand New Day trades would be an awesome gift.  Yes

I remember reading Bone and Scott Pilgrim with my friends when I was thirteen, and I absolutely loved them.

Thanks for the ideas! I really like the idea of Spidey Brand New Day trades because those stories are so accessible. I am thinking about Scott Pilgrim too...all solid suggestions! Cheesy

The Runaways digests would probably be good, too. I think most 13-year-olds can identify with teens who find out their parents are terrible super-villains and would love to realize they have some amazing powers/abilities. The teen writing/speak seemed pretty solid. There were a few things where I thought Vaughn trying too hard, but they're not deal-breakers.
