Man on Wire

Great documentary about a subject I had never heard about.

Yep, watched that after last year's Oscar telecast, and just thought it was amazing...

One that I watched recently was American Swing which was all about the days around Plato's Retreat in New York, and just found that endlessly fascinating...

Netflix has agreed with Warner Bros to wait 28 days until after a DVD goes on sale to rent the DVD.  The upside is Warner Bros has agreed to more streaming content.

Just watched the Gamers: Dorkness Rising.  Thought it was going to be something I could put on for background noise as I got some work done, but ended up watching it all and really enjoying the hell out of it!

A few weeks ago I watched Monster Camp, a documantary on LARPing (Live Action Role Playing).  I am a longtime gamer (Board games and RPGs), but this world is outside of my understanding.  It was good but not great.  A definate look into a world I have known about for a while but have never taken part of (kind of like furries!).

Netflix just put out a lot of the Criterion Collection releases in Instant Play and there's some good stuff there, Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress, Seven Samurai, and Yojimbo, Lars von Trier's terrific Europa (highly recommended) and a little piece of disturbing cinema called Man Bites Dog...

Bringing this one back... was checking through Netflix last night and one of my favorite movies from last year, Lars Von Trier's Antichrist just got added into Netflix Instant Play and it's not even available on domestic DVD yet (and it's in HD as well)...

So if you want to see something really disturbing in your horror films along with something to ponder over... this one might be worth a view... I know it's in my queue...

That one's in my queueueueu too! I love Von Trier!

Tonight I watched Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. 'Salright. I thought it was a bit weak all around, considering the talent involved. You do see a LOT of Marisa Tomei's jugs throughout the movie, though.

One of those "depressing without actually meaning anything" movies.

Un Chien Andalou
http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/Un_Chien_Andalou/60000602?trkid=809936

It's a short surrealist film by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali.  Not much in the way of plot, but contains some iconic images.  Way ahead of it's time, and well worth checking out for the 15 minutes it takes to watch.

Just got done watching The Man From Snowy River.  Loved it since I was a kid.  Hoping to get my wife into it. (She digs horses).  But getting her to watch my recommendations is like pulling teeth.
