Cable has already made a sacrifice in the time he spent protecting Hope.

I think I made the sacrifice already
by buying Cable the last two years.

Professor X is the best explanation I think I have heard so far.

In Matt Fraction's recent Word Balloon Q&A he says:

"Nightcrawler has some huge stuff coming up in Second Coming.."

Like...death?

Matt goes on to talk about how he's just got a handle on Iceman and how to write him. He also mentions that Iceman has some cool stuff coming up for the next year.

Like...not death..i would wager.

Bye Bye Kurt.

Well it could be Colosus, maybe there is a mandate to not have him and Kitty around at the same time for more than a few issues.

BTW is it me or was that first issue over inked? I loved the art but it felt a bit too muddy for the style.

Hey Folks. As I'm sure many of you have heard by now, it is rumored that an X-man (or woman) will perish during the current x-event.I was just wondering if anyone would care to speculate on who it may be, as I have no friggin' clue. Thanx.. Thumbs Up

Cable's the obvious choice so I'm going with Kurt. Shame really but I can't see anyone else in the image dying.

Cable seems such the obvious choice that it almost can't be him.

I still think its going to be Prof X.  Other possible choices:

Cable, X-23 (doubtful), Emma Frost (if Jean returns only), Rogue is another.

No Not Rogue, they finally seem to be doing something interesting with her in X-Men Legacy... hey hold on, is Legacy still continuing after the 2nd Coming?

I think there is a short list.

The last poster said "One of these X-men are going to die" and had Collossus, Angel, Iceman, Cable, Nightcrawler, Emma Frost and Magma.

Emma and Nightcrawler are probably topping the list. I don't know why, but this death doesn't really make me care about the mini anymore. I'm not reading it to see who dies. It's sort of a tired trope really. Does this story need this death to be good? I don't think so.

I feel you on this one.  I'm reading it because it's in my regular X-titles and because I only want to know who the FrenchConnectionUK Hope is.  If ever I get the one-shot monthly tie-in minis, that'll be because I found them in a $0.50 bin, got them at Wiiiiiiild PIIIIIIG, or read them over Wraithmaker's shoulder at Midtown Comics.

The death is unneccessary and will undoubtedly piss me off the way ALL X-Deaths ... and superhero deaths, for that matter ... inevitably do.

I'll be really surprised if Emma dies. too much has been invested in her character recently for that to happen. I've been picking up the current X-men in trades and from memory don't remember them doing much with Kurt. In fact, I'm struggling to remember anything that they've done with Kurt for a long time now. i might be wrong so please educate me.

My vote remains for Kurt I'm afraid Violin

I've been reading X men in trades too (until this event) and find I really like getting it in the big trade chunk. However, Second coming just hooked me from issue 1. I've pared down my pull list so I don't mind getting just the chapters (I won't be a regular New Mutants reader for example after this). I realized though that this whole death is a marketing ploy first--the X stories have been good enough lately that they don't rely on these kinds of tricks in the story itself. I hope I'm right on this and this death is not the lynch pin of the whole story.  Bangs Head
