Not much else to say, really.  Vote for your favorite, and join us for the discussion.  Cheesy  Voting will run for seven days, until the 29th, and then suggested reading schedules will posted soon thereafter.

Some (likely obvious) suggestions if you don't have the book already:

Buy a copy.
Library.
Borrow it from a friend or your old English teacher.
Audio books.
You didn't hear it from me, but you might be able to find it on the internet.  Shifty Eyes
If you read it back in high school, heck, you might remember enough to join in.  Wink

I voted for Heart of Darkness because I was going to re-read it this month anyhow, so I figure it'd be good to get everyone in on the conversation.  I'll be happy with any of them, though!

Hmmm, not sure what to pick but they all sound interesting.  One thing I know is I need to power through "The Mote in God's Eye" so I'll be ready for this.

Just from the synopsis, I think Pynchon's book sounds the most bizarre.

Voted for Kafka, but that's because i was planning on reading some this year anyway.
Pynchon might be best, always thought about having another go at Crying of lot 49.

Also hoping to participate in the coming months book club. Intended to with Rabbit Run, went out and bought it because it's something I've always been curious about. Haven't picked it up but my partner read and hated it.

I'm glad I read it, but truthfully, I kinda hated it too.  Well, I hated Harry "Rabbit" Angstrom, and he dominates the book to such a degree that I hated the book too.  Like I said, I don't regret reading it, but on the other hand, I have no intention of ever reading the other three books in the series.

HATED the plot and main character, LOVED the prose and the understanding of human nature evident in the author's rendering of the characters (particularly everyone BUT Rabbit).

I remember reading Heart of Darkness a while back, but it was a required reading during high school, so I probably need to read it again to so that I could actually remember after the test.

Please, only vote if you intend to read along with us this month. While we respect everyone's opinion, the vote is reserved for folks who intend to read the winning selection, regardless of whether or not their choice wins. Thanks!  Thumbs Up

I finally voted.  I had a hard time deciding.  Unfortunately there's now a tie, but I had to go with what I really wanted to read.

C'mon, there's four more days left to vote....break that tie, folks!

All good choices, but I love Pynchon (Gravity's Rainbow is on of my favourite books of all time) and it'll force me to get a new copy of Lot 49 (I gave my copy away as a present to the owner of the bar I used to frequent in Kyiv).

I got both Pynchon and Conrad from the library today.  Therefore, the pick will be Kafka.   D'oh!

I didn't vote because I would vote for Kafka, something I know I'll like and something that is familair to me already.

I want a new reading experience.

and seeing as I have just finished a story in the complete Sherlock Holmes, I have an opening for a new book

Farrell and I haven't discussed it, but I imagine Wood would break any tie, right?

If Heart of Darkness gets chosen, could we do a cross-study between that and Apocalypse NowThinking
