Glad Chris liked Parade With Fireworks. I believe I talked about it on AC a long time ago when the issues came out, but that's usually about the time Chris would get up for a cigarette. I mean, c'mon, look how long it took for him to finally read Godland! I'm like white noise to him. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I picked up a copy of Afrodisiac at the book release party this last weekend (Jim Rugg is a Pittsburgh local, good times were had), and it is tight! (Did I do that right? "Tight", is that the word the kids are using these days?

I feel bad for forum member The Other Mike (Mike Dimayuga). His book gets a plug on the show, the publisher and writer are mentioned by name, but his name (and his beautiful pencils) gets nary a mention. Colt Noble and the MegalordsGo Mike! Even though I am a fan of Seeley's work, it was Mike's mention of it here that prompted me to order it and it's one of the books I'm most looking forward to in my DCBS box next month. Karma, Matt, for looking out for a fellow forumite.

What's the point of posting when I agree with the hosts more or less . . . but damn, you guys are off.
1. Planet Hulk was a fun DVD - comparing the movie to the book - tsk tsk - your loss by judging before watching - and hey, they can do a sequel with World War Hulk - with the baby and the bomb
2. I didn't know there was a statute of limitations for a creator on one book - Bendis is writing better than ever and let's drop him from the Avengers, because he has done it long enough already? Seriously? Shouldn't he quit writing Ultimate Spidey first by that standard?
3. Can't believe David is taller than I had him pictured!!! Seriously! (okay, only two real gripes)
4. You made me spend $11 on that Afro-thing book today - can't wait - it better be as good as Beanworld.
Love the show, as always, gentlemen. Peace and love!

To malpractice, my point in bringing up gaiman on mm etc. is to accept the reality that DC owns watchmen, and just like the examples I gave others are capable of telling good watchmen stories.

Chris your dislike of bendis on avengers is singular and ignores his success on the books and supposes he is incapable of writing any other type of Avengers stories.

It's so cute seeing you get worked up over my opinion on one of the characters of the show. That's so unlike you to feel so strongly about something.
Yes, out of the three male leads, Chi McBride's character is the weakest one to me. It looks like he's going to get lightheaded if he stands up for too long. If there's no desk to lean on or a chair to sit in, he'll fall over.
I do not dislike McBride. I liked him in Hoodlum, I liked him in Boston Public (again, not a show where he needed to move around much), I liked him in Gone in Sixty Seconds, and he did a great job of being a prick in House, M.D. But in Human Target? I'm not that wowed.
How dare you talk bad about my hero

On future Watchmen properties:
I think even if I was hardcore adament about there not being any future stories based on it (which I think is only fairly likely--if anything, it sounds like Morrison is going to make his own Watchmen-lite universe in his Multiversity project), I'd wait until there's at least speculation. Rich has a pretty good track record, but not THAT good of one.
And even if there is--I think it's very much possible to make a good Watchmen addition, and I'd love to see (I believe it was) Vince's idea about an anthology, but pushed even further to be about actual continuity points. I'd love to see, say, Azzarello/Risso doing the story of when Nite Owl and Rorschach broke up.
Someone said earlier that the reason the book was a success wasn't because of the characters--and that's probably up their as the biggest load of shit I've read here. Watchmen was innovative, yes, and had some really cool storytelling tricks, but if it didn't have great characters, an engrossing story, and good art, we wouldn't be talking about it today.
Plus, it's already been shown that we can have a good Watchmen story without Moore/Gibbons heavily involved--look at the video game. It was a simple button-masher, but the story was fantastic.

Watchmen 2 - any sequel, by any creator, no matter how talented, will be like having Jim Davis take over "Calvin and Hobbes" for Bill Watterson. Why mess with karma (besides for money)?

Their are enough great writers and artists working in comics today that can do great Watchmen stories.
