Yeah, I mean, I'm probably an extreme case, because I get sick very easily... but I have a pretty healthy diet, and I used to get sick all the time. I'm not suggesting everyone take a supplement every day, but if you're going into a place where you KNOW there're going to be a ton of germs and bodies (like a Con), it wouldn't hurt to boost your immune system to help combat that.
It's also not a bad idea to have on hand for when you're juuuust starting to feel yourself coming down with something... that little flush, that tingle at the back of your throat suggesting strep, that sort of thing. Taking a quick Vitamin C supplement can help prevent whatever's trying to get its hooks into you from being able to.
I don't mean to be a pain, but I did find an interesting article from a pretty credible website (Science Based Medicine) that tries to dispel the myth of "boosting the immune system". It's pretty lengthy and technical, but it's still pretty interesting stuff: http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?p=1828The article's author is an Infectious Disease specialist and a medical doctor.

It's cool, man, find all the articles you want... you're not convincing me I'm wrong. It's not like I'm claiming God came down and rubbed my tummy and I don't get the sniffles no more... there's a direct cause and effect correlation at work that I have tested extensively and seen positive results. I no takey pill, I sick; I takey pill, I no sick.

How healthy do you think the average con goer's diet is under normal circumstances?
Wait. Cheetos are orange, so they have Vitamin C, right?

Great Con discussion guys. I am so glad Wood mentioned that it drives him crazy when the guy in front of him pulls out 50 issues for a creator to sign. RUDE!!!!! Last year at ECCC some guy had what must have been the entire Bendis run of Daredevil. Bendis was kind enough to sign all of them, but we were all waiting forever. Oy vey. Not cool. Also, be nice when you ask questions at panels. Don't try to get creators to say mean things about their colleagues (this happened last year at ECCC also). Above all, HAVE FUN and definitely do as Chris says and buy art. Yummy yummy art.

There's correlation, but not causation. Amen. And there are a million other factors involved. It's not a closed system. I've tried to tell this to my wife but she won't listen to me.

There's correlation, but not causation. Whatever you gotta tell yourself, buddy. It's an extremely strong correlation, let's put it that way. As in, I changed exactly one thing about my lifestyle and noticed the immediate desired result. I guess it's also possible that I just happened to have developed the immune system of a bull on steroids for the first time in my life the exact same week I started taking Vitamin C supplements, though.

We did an entire episode of Around Comics on conventions. http://www.aroundcomics.com/index.php/ep-122-comics-101-conventionsIn this episode we give our advice on how to make the most of your convention experience. We cover everything from what shoes to wear to what should be in your con bag. Skottie Young gives his pointers on getting sketches and commissions and how to approach creators. Mark Beatty gives us the dealer perspective and provides tips on how you can save a few bucks on everything from quarter books to statues. We're also joined by Stevie D. from the Comic Book Queers podcast in this fun and informative discussion on how to survive conventions.

Excellent addition. Following that line of thinking, also don't ask questions that would require the creators to spoil a current story arc. They won't do it, and you're giving them a chance to say nothing more than "read the book and find out."

Which was an awesome sequel to the awesome episode 11: Comic book con season is here so Chris and Sal invited Scar tissue Artist Dave Wachter, and comic fan David Price to talk all about our favorite summer geek fests. From the panels, to the quarter bins we give you the ins and out of Comic Cons. All that plus Wire2Wire news and Top of the Stack.

Fantasy Baseball??? I hear murmurs but nothing concrete. It's ok of you just say it's invite only and that I can't play I'll keep listening anyway . . . and weeping softly into my pillow. Seriously though, is this still on the agenda for the forum?

It's a perceptual bias problem. And since your evidence is all anecdotal, it can't be proven. But I'll go with the 30 scientific trials that say that Vitamin C does nothing to prevent a cold. Also, be careful with your dosage. Contrary to popular belief, excess Vitamin C is not just pissed away. It can lead to kidney stones.

Seriously though, is this still on the agenda for the forum? It's ok if it is invite Only (I believe a Yahoo pool for instance only has 20 manager spots). But if the league is capped or private or whatever i would encourage Mssrs Wood and Neseman would lay off the "I will beat any anyone at fantasy baseball" comments.
