You mean the Punisher from 1998? Yes, but I only heard about that Punisher. Now I've seen him in action without wanting it. I really wanted to have a hard-boiled western movie and not something fantastic. It's Wild Wild West without Will Smith riding a giant spider and Megan Fox playing Robert Williams in a dress.

If they wanted to add a supernatural element there were three perfectly awesome minis by Joe Lansdale and Tim Truman they could have adapted.

That series holds a special place in my heart. Started with Tex, ended with Keith Giffen's. And a cover penciled by Denys Cowan with Hex vs. Batman atop the Statue of Liberty.

What the fuck? Jonah Hex: Supernatural Avenger? A black Q who gives him fancy-ass gadgets? It looks fucking horrible and it pisses me off. I'm especially bummed because I mentioned it to my dad a while back as something we could see together. See, he likes westerns. I don't know what I just watched but it sure as hell wasn't a western. I guess I'll just hope he forgets about it.

A couple of things about this:
One, it looks decent, albeit not faithful
two, did anybody get a "the crow" vibe off of the beginning of this trailer. bleh.
three, they did honor some of the vertigo run (lansdale (?) with the "cut myself shaving" bit. My favorite from the books is the toothpick one
all in all it'd probably get a B rating from me, of course it will be harshly criticized by all of us due to the comics connection, but if it had a different name, I bet even the most sceptical would think it good or at least good enough. I guess we'll wait and see

I've never read a ton of Jonah Hex so I'm not put off by the loose adaptation. It looks like it could be fun. I do wish they had gone for more of a straight western though. That could've been incredible.

F&^%in' A! I still love that goofy series. I'd give my last Soames tablet for a decent Jonah Hex or Hex movie. This looks so loud, crass, and stupid. Not at all what I associate with the books. I thought it'd be Deadwood meets The Man with No Name. Ugh. My wife loves Brolin and I was stoked to turn her onto the character, but not this Jonah Hex. Added to my Netflix queue. No wonder DC axed the second Showcase volume. They must have seen this turdwagon.

what did everybody honestly expect a Jonah Hex movie to be ?
I expected a trashy, over the top, fun b-movie and that's exactly what this looks like. What's wrong with that ? I'll admit the supernatural elements are kind of dumb but overall it looks like about what it should be.

I expected a western. I expected Jonah Hex to be a gunfighter and bounty hunter with a grudge and a bad complexion, not some unholy love child of James Bond and Christ. I can see why people would compare this to Wild, Wild West but it's not really the same thing. That movie was in a different genre: the steampunk genre. It was true to that and to the original television show it was based on. Jonah Hex has always been a western. Even the Lansdale/Truman collaborations still felt like westerns, albeit with supernatural antagonists (one of the keys being just that; Jonah Hex was NOT the supernatural part). From the looks of this trailer, this movie reminds me more of what they did in the recent Sherlock Holmes.

What they said. I'm surprised Chris Kattan or Rob Schneider isn't in it as the comic relief.
