It's ironic that I've written as much as I have in this thread because I see both companies as stagnant, corporate entities now, companies that only occasionally publish work that genuinely interests and excites me.
I certainly don't have a horse in this race either. But it's one of those questions where I didn't realize I had such a forceful opinion about it until it was asked. Don't get me started on Munsters vs. Addam's Family.

Thor is my favorite Kirby Marvel comic.
I don't know if I've ever even read any Kirby on Thor. If I have, it's been a looooong time.

The only Marvel characters I have much affection for is the Fantastic Four. I have always found the Avengers and Spider-man to be really, really boring.

The DC universe always seemed a bit crazier, weirder, and brighter....which appealed to me as a kid.
