I dunno. Some of that sounds like stuff you're putting on the character, not that's actually backed up by the comics (or wherever your exposure of the character is from). Plenty of comics where he gets the girl. Plenty of comics were he charms someone. I think this: "I like it when it feels genuine" - is really where most people fall - and certainly where Vince and David on the ep fell in regards to the trailer. But that had more to do with their perceived expectations of what they "think" they should see, probably from the recent Hex comics (although he gets the girl often enough in that series as well). All good. Thanks for the response! It'll be interesting to see what other people say are "Jonah Hex" elements.
Yeahhhh, maybe... I mean, I've seen Hex get the girl before, but it's a Tallulah Black angry fuck, or a paid-for whore or something... I'm not saying he never impressed a lady or got laid, and there are quite a few romantic entanglements to pull from over the years, but I'll stick by my characterization of Hex as a misanthrope. It's not that he can't get the girl, it's that he doesn't really want her. But, I admit, hard to debate the movie doesn't have that without my having seen it. What it honestly really boils down to for me is this: See, for me it wasn't so much the changing of the history that made me not see it. It just looked like a real bad movie to me. I was trying to put my finger on why, but I couldn't quite figure it out. It's just one of those things though that I can feel in my gut. Well said.  (Karma to both quoted parties in this post) |

Oh no doubt! Nothing but love Chris. In fact, I too thought it funny to hear Vince say "ass-guard", and giggled listening back to the show. But seeing as how he knows I love to give him crap for mispronunciations, I figured I would check to see if there were multiple ways to say Asgard and the dictionary indicates both are useful. So rather than happily jumping into the fray with you and laughing at with him , I had to give him his propers. |
