Wowz. I just thought lil dude was a writer who made wildly popular books, who's one finally made it to TV. I missed the whole "elevation to 'partner' " thing. What made that happen?

What made that happen? You answered that earlier in the same post: I just thought lil dude was a writer who made wildly popular books... And it's been since that video manifesto was released awhile back.

Well hopefully he's leaving because he's moving up the ladder. He mentioned he's been to the Marvel offices and that his visit is a hint as to what he's doing after 28 Days Later.

So, I'm re-asphalting my driveway this Saturday morn (it's break time now)and enjoying the latest episode. I miss Wood but the show must go on! I just got to the whole Bendis' Avengers/jumping on point for new 12 year old readers discussion. I do enjoy Bendis' work a bunch but I think Neseman is right within the confines of this specific debate. When I want to bring an old reader back into the fold or grab a new young reader with material from Marvel I hand them my trades of Ultimate Avengers (vol 1). Big summer action movie style comic. It grabs them everytime. I do think that original twelve issue run should be pushed as a Marvel "evergreen". the Tiki

The porter is good. It's been a while since I had the IPA, maybe I'm misremembering it. P.S. How do folks ship beers to you guys? Is it kosher? The regular Stone IPA, when fresh, is good bang for the buck. Ruination IIPA is fantastic but at $16/sixer... way too pricey. I suggest the Green Flash West Coast IPA. $10/sixer and is fantastic! Of course, we Chicagoans now have Daisy Cutter Pale Ale in cans! 4 tallboys/$9 and it's hoppier than most IPAs! Ship UPS/FedEx... NEVER USPS (felony to ship alcohol). Pack tight, overstuff and if asked, you're sending homemade hot sauce. I've got over 75 beer trades under my belt and it's an addicting hobby!

Just one. I used FedEx and it was a pain in the hindquarters! Too many customs forms to fill out.

Never read Image Comics in 1993. Glad I didn't. I didn't get on board the Image wagon until after their diversified and style being more important than substance wasn't the general rule. Marvel and Turtles zombie 1993!

So folks who are provided review copies of comics and trades for free also shouldn't be listened to or debated? Big difference. Julian's whole approach to talking about movies is skewed by not having to pay for any of them. His words: he doesn't pay for movies. At all. So in essence, the decision to see or not see is waaaay different than most people. And our larger discussion wasn't even about reviewing the movie. It was about the impulse to see it in the first place. Hence my "oh hell no" attitude. Where's the decision making in seeing Prince of Persia over Jonah Hex if not cost? Obvious, it's tastes, bias, etc. As I said elsewhere, Julian loves his video games. I love my comics. If I could see both for free I would. Plus - had I known ahead of time that he didn't pay for his movies, the conversation would have gone a different way. Full disclosure baby. Nice try. PS/ I only wish the mass of comics we talk about we got for free. It killed me to have to buy Siege just to talk about it.

I thought their IPA was terrible.
I had the Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale last night and I liked that one. Not as much as the smoked porter or the Arrogant Bastard, but I liked it. I also tried the Stone Cali-Belgique IPA last night and thought it was awful.

PS/ I only wish the mass of comics we talk about we got for free. It killed me to have to buy Siege just to talk about it. Hey not my fault people don't pay attention to my tweets. I've been seeing movies for free for YEARS now. And it's not any different that getting review comics. Not to me. Both equal time. I saw Prince of Persia because of the producer involved. I like Jerry Bruckheimer produced projects. It really had nothing to do with it being a video game. Because real talk, video game movies are usually terrible. It's kinda like when people who read comics say they follow creators over characters. In film I follow directors, producers, some writers and some others over actors or what the movie may be about. I'll see a Soderburg because it's Soderburg, the damn thing could be about a window washer-doesn't matter I'll give it a shot. Most critics don't pay for movies or anything really. Does that make their opinion any less valid? If you read a book from an e-mailed PDF does that make your thoughts on it any less valid cause you didn't pay for it? My impulse to see a movie comes from the same place as yours maybe. I see a trailer on itunes or a website or before a film and I go see it. I just find a way to see it for free and earlier than most. It just happens that my hustle for screenings seemed to happen around the same time I have less money to spend on entertainment. In greater scheme of things I'd pay $20 dollars to see Toy Story 3D Imax sight unseen whereas I wouldn't pay a $1 to see Jonah Hex cause it looks wacktacular beyond belief. There are so many comic based movies that why should I treat them any different than other movies that are in the cinema on fridays?

I'm still not sure how one's opinion is more/less valid based on the price paid. Does that mean my thoughts on Fantastic Four #52 are better than most because I spent an ungodly amount on a NM copy decades after it came out? Does price matter that much as a barometer of objectivity?
