I couldn't disagree more with Vince on the JH Williams thing ! He is a great story-teller, even though he does use a lot of graphic design elements. His use of panels, whilst not traditional, still show your eyes where to go in order to follow the story - I have never been confused reading his work, even when he is having his character talk Alan Moore's mgickal theories !
I personally find Paul Pope's work hard to follow, especially in his "One Trick Rip-Off" story - lines are all over the place, the weight of the live changes the way a character looks all the time, and it is just hard to follow.

Holy Crap that ep was just AWESOME! That goes down as one of your best guys. The episode a few weeks ago you did the 5 books of your closest stack was right up there but you just topped it. Great job all of you.
David has already stuck up for Vince concerning his JH comments. I was thinking the same thing as Jason was gasping in horror and questioning Vinces sanity. Vince said he thought JH was fantastic, just not on equal ground to Paul Pope. Completely reasonable I thought. Don't take crap Vince - turkey slap Wood next time you see him Tongue
I also thought Chris was really on the ball this episode and gave    some          reeeally inter......................ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

quick thoughts after listening to a bit on the ride to and from work.

Second Coming was a great weekly (almost) experience.  The action was never down for too long, and moved at a breakneck pace.  While I will agree with you about Choi dropping the ball a bit on the Wolverine page but come on, the dude nailed it on the silent pages in Chapter 9.  Those pages were awesome!.  I am not a fan of the Dodsons at all and Land is well......The Fox pages with Legion were some of my favorite.   Speaking of splash pages not bringing the heat, how about Greg Land's two page spread in the middle of Chapter 12?  Terrible, Hope with no legs and just plain boring.   Gotta love Cypher!  Carey took the ball in Necrosha and completely ran with it.  Loved the banter with the Science Team and Avengers.  It's a great time to be an X-fan.  How about the New Mutants stepping up and being prepared to do whatever it took to accomplish their mission?  Cannonball seriously taking charge like a real leader for one of the first times since New Mutants were relaunched.

Love the random pile segments you guys have had.  I did like the faster blitz style from a few months ago better though.  But hey, I'll take any 11 0'Clock.

I was unhappy with the death of Nightcrawler, but you are right that it was a logical death in the military sense.
It did give me a good excuse to bust out the Alan Davis Excalbur run, one of my favourite runs of all time

Karma to you sir.  Davis' run on Excalibur was probably what turned me from a recreational comic reader to a bug powder junkie of the highest order.

So I finished up the episode last night, I have to echo the sentiments of others, episode 117 goes down as one of the best, most unusual, funniest and just downright bizarre episodes ever.

I love when the episodes stretch on like this, becuase it means there are so many different rabbit holes you guys are going down and your discussions are very organic and just honest.  It's great to hear.

So do we happen to know how long it was before Chris woke up and realized he still had his headset on and the podcast was over???

Best episode ever?

Perfect balance of hate and love. Great books discussed. 18 hours long. Doctor Who talk. Wood dropping the slingo. Buzzed Vince. DAP jabs. Crumb love (I learned something here).

YES!

About Empowered. That is a book that I felt almost wrong for enjoying, but it's hard to deny it isn't good stuff. I've only read the first volume though, and sort of felt that was enough. I've seen it mentioned that Emp becomes more fleshed out as the volumes go on, and my library does carry the series, so it's something I might need to revisit down the line.

This is by far the only time I have shook my fist at an episode. I'm only about 55 minutes through it. The Second Coming talk grinded my gears.  ERRRRR, BARK BARK (cue old DMX). All that damn Scott Summers love. You know the only reason I like Hope is because she's the only one that tells Scott to basically eat a galactus dick. Vince loves to dis Storm, man chill. Can I LIVE, CAN I LIVE. all y'all hating on Hank too. Damn. at least somebody said something to bitchass Scott. I hate this era Scott. I miss Prof X, if I was Prof X I wouldn't take no guff from Scott just cause he got the diamond booty. Bitch ass Scott hated on
Rogue
too.

But yeah Fantomex is my dude.

This is the only new Aqualad design I respect...

DC needs like a black person fact checker or something. Who came up with dreds? Why? Why does he look like static? And yeah like Wood said why is he afraid of the water and can't swim. I can swim, I'm not a afraid of the water either, not fond of the beach though-too damn hot.

...I suppose it could have been added in after the fact by someone in DC production, too. Kind of a last minute thing, like the way that the Bullpen used to "correct" artwork?

Being a Vertigo book that never even occurred to me.  I can see it.

Yeah, it's gotta suck seeing a character actually evolve in a somewhat natural progression and not do a complete personality change mid-sentence.

Cyclops haters make me laugh (Hal Jordan haters make me laugh, too, but that's for another day).  My absolute favorite thread of all time that is not on a forum I run can be found here.

As for Hank, way to be the big man, Blue.  We all grieve in our own ways, but getting in Scott's face when they're trying to do a service for Kurt while fighting a war was poor form.  Turning into a dick must be yet another (third, fourth?) mutation.

Scott deserves the love, he's gone from that dude in the hall who's afraid to ask the hot girl to dance even though she's given him like 10 signals to General Patton! Apprecignize!

That's a visual I do NOT want to think about. But something I would expect to see Scott Pilgrim fantasizing about if they came out with a Volume 7.  Boogie

Yeah, I'm 100% with you there. Ororo is the bomb ass queen. She's THE Nubian superwoman of all-time. To hate is to not KNOW.

Hit the brakes! Slow your roll, JL! I don't hate on Hank. I LOVE Hank, he's one of my favorite characters in Marvel history. But I did think it was inappropriate behavior at the funeral, FWIW.[/quote]

If you show up to NYCC parading around Diamond booty, no one is going to give you shit either my friend. VVS1 trim? That's priceless.

Thank you! I just couldn't believe it when I saw a black, dreaded Aqualad who HATES THE WATER. I mean, even if it was unintentional, how do they NOT have SOMEONE over at DC point out the racial stereotyping. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeebus.
