I've been in Comics R Us on a friday arvo and theres been a bunch of dudes as well as the store guys just chatting about stuff.
Having shopped at minotaur most of my comic reading life, I had no idea comic stores could be like that Smiley
There is a really good chance one of those guys was me! unless i got something right on after work i attend most friday nights catch ups

How did this get to 2 pages without me noticing????

I have to say Alternate Worlds is my shop. Just fantastic service and a massive range of trades and back issues.

I would be up for a catch up too, I work shift work so I'm pretty good with when I can attend.

First day in Melbourne is behind me. 3 Hours of sleep in the last two days. Or the last two weeks? I have no feeling about time anymore.

Is any of you guys also studying or are you all already working?

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

After a painful search, I found an apartment, which means I have a place to store comics now.

How long do the comic shops open, here? I have classes until 5:15 on Wednesdays. How about a shop and drink up on one of the next Wednesdays?

I finally had my first comic shop experience Down Under. Comics R Us seems to be a great shop. Lots of indies and a bunch of people standing around, talking weird stuff. This is gonna be my LCS.

Minotaur is not my kind of thing. Too impersonal. But at least I found Morning Glories and Uncanny, which was sold out at CRUs.

The prices here were quiet a shock to me. I bought the first Scott Pilgrim for AUS$20 at CRUs. In Germany, that would have cost me around AUS$12. But whatcha gonna do? I still need my fix over the next few months.

Don't forget to check out the Public libraries to save your student dollars dude. I know Sydney library has a great collection.

This is a good site though if you want to order stuff. All prices are in AUD with delivery included.

A cry for help:

I'm currently desperately looking for Justice League: Generation Lost 1-8. If one of you accidently stumbles upon them in one of the Melbourne shops, especially issues 1-2, it would be awesome if you could let me know here.

Thanks guys.

i've only spent a short time in melbourne but the guys at comics r us knew how to create the same cool comic shop shop vibe that i get at home. people that love the medium, not the business.
looking through the thread it's obvious that the're doing something right.

i thought that the last few episodes weren't the strongest. with this new one they're back in form.
I thought your last few posts were rubbish, but it's good to see you rounding back into form.

Not me sadly, I'll be overseas during that time.
But I hear there's some cool guests, Daniel Way, Ron Marz, Georges Jeanty..also Colin Wilson, who is an aussie who has done work for 2000 AD and Dark Horses Star Wars line, he does great commissions.

That's my aim too. Gotta find about 15 Moon Knight issues to finish my complete run, and some old Blue Beetle. Not sure if I will get a commission this time, but I will be getting Lloyd Kaufman to sign my Toxic Avenger dvd. Not sure if I'll wear my Bat symbol shirt or my Toxie one.

Say hi if you see me. I'm going pretty much for Way and Robertson. Free autographs and photoswith them!

Other than that I'm a bit strapped for cash this week so no celebs for me.

You too man. I'll be wearing an old man cap as my wife calls it. The comic creators just aren't doing it for this year.
