Great episode guys. I find myself really looking forward to each podcast, and when I saw this week's was Final Crisis #3, I turned off the stereo and immediately downloaded it.
One thing about martinis. I was a bartender for a while back in the day, and the usual reason for stirring gin martinis is that shaking "bruises" the gin; turns it cloudy.

I remember getting those issues also; Chaykin you say? Balls nasty Colletta I say. I remember picking up the " Permission to Die" mini based on my enjoyment of Grell's work with " The Longbow Hunters". I guess Kirkman is right, even retroactively.

Great show! At last you guys talked about Crimson!!! One of the first books I got into. I have all 24 issues plus the special. Their are some sweet foil covers for that series and the figures were amazing!!! Not sure on Out There though.

Vince & Paul, have you checked Zappa.com lately? Lots of new old releases in last 2 years (and I dont mean Zappa plays Zappa): a Buffalo show double live disc, a Mystery Disc, Wazoo double live disc, Imaginary Diseases, yet another 'shut up and play yer guitar' disc titled 'Trance Fusion', a DVD of halloween '81 (which I've had a great boot DVD of for years, but was happy to buy the official version upon recent release) called Torture Never Stops, etc. I was thrilled when I discovered these in recent months! "...Music is the best!"
Very cool! Karma to you, sir! Not just for the great info above, but also because I now have "The Torture Never Stops" from "Zoot Allures" stuck in my head. No better earworm than a little bit o' Zappa. Making my way to the site now!

David & Wood - Have you seen Van Wilder? Did you enjoy Ryan Reynolds in it? I have not. Haven't seen Waiting yet, either. Definitely, Maybe is in from Netflix, however. Just finished listening and resting from another day of traveling...for the roll-call I am having a moosehead lager.
Vince-Great talk on Spawn, but I never found the interest to jump in until the Tan/Hogluin run and the Haberlin replacement on art after. I'm looking for the trades on those but I'm not jumping onto this upcoming Portacio/McFarlane run...I dunno, the art just doesn't pique my interest as it would've when I was a newbie collector in comics.
Chris- I would love to hear you talk more Bond. Were there ever ANY comic adaptations of the Bond movies at all?
Otherwise, interesting Image-esque episode. Uhh, will this be the first and last time you guys will cover it? lol.
Keep it up guys.
Damn. Well, Wood, I guess we could have sat this one out.

Oh, for the love of god... I thought his impersonation of Snake Eyes and my reenactment of old Marcel Marceau routines were gold, but that doesn't make good audio...

Can I tell you that I welled up when I first saw the trailer to this one in the theater. And you know the scene I'm talking about, I betcha. (I can't remember the dialog exactly or I'd quote it...)

Did I hear David and Vince say "What makes The Blob interesting?" at the same time?
That trailer was pretty exciting, and it looked like they CGI'd about 50 extra pounds of muscle onto Jackman.
But why did I think I saw Emma Frost there? Some amazing-looking blonde chick seemed under attack and she turned to diamond? Or did I mistake the fx for diamond and that was actually Silver Fox (or whatever her name is)...

Don't waste a Netflix option on Waiting. It is replayed ad nauseum on Comedy Central. the Tiki

I'm afraid I'm forced to counter that with the "I've never waited tales in my life and thought it was a hilarious movie" take. And not just because I pretty much enjoy anything Reynolds is in. Honest. Plus, I'm really not sure that Comedy Central can show everything that was in that movie. I think it's totally worth a rental.

I'm glad you posted that, Steve. I was getting ready to interject myself. As far as I know, my old buddy Joe Travers is still the vaultmeister of the Frank Zappa tape vault. Joe is, obviously, an incredible drummer as well. I was fortunate enough to play with him a few times in the past (Joe even filled in for a Berlin gig once). I haven't spoken to him in a few years (since I moved away from L.A.) but my understanding is that he still keeps fairly busy amassing and releasing new stuff for the Zappa family. I guess the only "problem" is that he still plays drums with Dweezil, so I guess for every week that he's out on the road spreading the Zappa word with Zappa Plays Zappa in a live setting, that's another week that he's not able to be in the studio to cull together the old live tapes.

And as for Danger Girl…what's not to love? Too much of a fun book. I bought the Absolute when I had the chance. I think I quadruple dipped on that book. I think I may need to re-read those. Gotta love the Danger Girl. I wasn't reading comics when those came out so I got to know them through the trades much later on. Now, I'm slowly collecting the singles. I'm almost complete and soon... bwa-ha-ha-ha... ... I'll re-read them in single issue form. Maybe I should think about that Absolute as well. Also, with regards to Ryan Reynolds...I remember cock-blocking the guy almost 5 years ago. I never would've thought that he'd play Hannibal King and now Deadpool...
P.
Only the legendary Pat Loika could cock-block Ryan Reynolds! Sweet.
