Just want to say that it was nice to hear Sal jump on this week. He's no Neseman, but who is . Sal always seems to have a level head and prospective on issues. he doesn't seem to be given to hyperbole. In essence he is not cut out for podcasting. lol I wonder what podcaster has claimed the most comics as the best comic ever.lol

I wasn't comparing Warhol to Sim in terms of their art, only that their personalities are as recognizable as their art. Each is a case where the identity behind the art is compelling as the stuff we see on the gallery wall or the comic page. For me, I can't separate the two from their work. The men that they are/were are as interesting and exiting to me as their artistic output.
I see it as the personality of the artist (writer is included under my definition of an artist) can take on a a life of it's own which functions as their public relations firm. The more outrageous or contriversal an artist is the more the public wants a piece of them. The audience can have their opinion swayed by the personality of an artist very easily. Their personality which has already influenced the audiences perception of anything related to them makes them look at that piece of art work with different eyes. Suddenly that artist's work looks or reads more hardcore because a fansite says they got into a fight or threw spells at a cab drivers. You have a major problem when it comes to this. You get the "they can do no wrong" syndrome. Even though the artist may suck now, the companies are still slotting projects for them which takes away for the trully talented that deserves them. They are giving artists projects that are just horrible fits for them simply because they have the name that sells. But with that you lose the integrity of the content. The characters of a comic suffer because more attention is paid to the name of the artist then the quality of the art. Me personally, I don't care about the reputation of an artist. That's not what is important to me. I care about the characters and how they are relayed to me via the artists words and illustrations (colorist, inkers, letterist, etc.). The greatest artist are the ones that can make me believe in the characters and their situations. Skill is way more important than outlived reputations.

Boom! has just signed on Sir Charles to expand Waid's Irredeemable Universe.
Sir Charles Presents: Turrible #1 Boom! Studios $3.99 Writer: Chuck Barkley Pencils: Chap Yaep Inks: V. Colletta Colors: Crayola
You've seen what happens to the world when its greatest hero gives up on humanity. You've seen former villains band together against their foe. But the world isn't just about the Irredeemable and the Incorruptible. Now join first time comic writer Roundmound O. Rebound as he presents the story of Turrible. Turrible is a man once great, but now consumed by sloth, gluttony and greed. See how a bad night in Vegas reshapes his life, giving new meaning to what it truly mean to be....TURRIBLE.

Fun show guys
- Loved the discussion on Odin's clean armour and Green Lantern's outfit. Sal was the voice of reason on the GL conversation. To me the uniform is irrelevant. The big intrigue for me is how they handle the Ring itself and it's power. Between 3D, CGI and creativity I think the power ring in use will be one of the make or break issues. (The hotness of Blake Lively won't hurt the film). - Wood: I agree with you. Tori Black "brings a lot" to the Catwoman role. Nice one. - Shadowland? Meh. I agree with Wood that the start fell flat. - SDCC. Dark Horse presents? Yay! Red Hulk in Avengers? Boo. - John Byrne! Perhaps not Star Trek, but i will pretty mush buy anything Mr. Byrne creates. Very happy Next Men is being collected again (hopefully in color). Love his work.
For what it's worth, I think you are good people.
Cheers and have a great week. GL

Karma, they are pretty awesome, I just can't decide what to put them on...
An Idea for the badges. A Canvas type satchel bag for use on comic book Wednesday, with a fat arse strap like a sash for the badges and a fitted type pouch inside it perfect size to hold your books.

Another great episode guys.
First off Sal I loved hearing you on a pod cast again and I'm excited that your fan boy scouts is out there now. I remeber hearing you talk about it on Around or Word Balloon (can't remember witch).
The Red Hulk on the Avengers? I'm sorry but I just hated the idea of the character to begin with. It is a bit too much. I hate it when a character is connected to some other character, it's all a bit to insestuous. The world is much bigger than that. The second reason why I hate this perticular character is the fact that Loeb drasticly changed the character. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind seeing a character grow, but I want to see that growth happen while maintaining the core concept of that character. When I have to question why the character has to even exsit then I will certainly question why throw that character on any team.
Finally, Vince I couldn't disagree with you more about artist and thier art. Only truely great artist can create a piece that makes you think, makes you feel, and makes you take a journey with out any knowledge of live of the hand that created it. However, any one can create a story that makes and piece of work, good or bad, more interesting. The story can be about the way it was created or the person who created it, and any one can act out. Try applying that logic to other forms of art. Is Mel Gibsons acting more compelling now that he has self destructed? Personally, I don't think so. His performance in any given movie is still the same performance.

WTF were you doing in Missoula?
Family on my mother's side live all throughout Montana. Real cowboy shit. Missoula, Bear Paw Mountains, Havre, Great Falls. Used to visit for a month at a time when I was a teenager. My grandmother was actually the first person in my family to go to college - U of M in Missoula in the 1930's. Her dad was doing really well raising cattle. Shame none of that land trickled down to me. On the badges front, I bought the set and I'll keep some for myself (looking at you Speed badge) and defintely pass out a few to my buddies. BTW, you should put up a gallery "as seen on the street...".
